History and Significance of Maha Kumbh Mela: A Look at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Frequent Visits in 2025

The event has a deep-rooted history in Indian tradition and is held every 12 years at four major pilgrimage sites—Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik.

The first Maha Kumbh of independent India was held in 1954, from January 14 to March 3, under the leadership of Chief Minister Govind Ballabh Pant. At that time, he visited the event two or three times to oversee the arrangements, making him one of the few CMs to personally monitor the event.

However, in 2025, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has broken all records by visiting the Kumbh Mela 12 times in just 45 days, making him the first CM in independent India to inspect the event so frequently.

???? January 9 – Visited 13 AkharasDandibadaKhak Chowk, and Yogi Mahasabha camps. Also inaugurated the Digital Media Center.

???? January 10 – Launched KumbhVani Channel, a special broadcast by Prasar Bharati. Flagged off Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation’s special buses for Kumbh.

???? January 19 – Met Shankaracharyas and prominent saints, inaugurated exhibitions, police galleries, the Constitution Gallery, and the Tourism Gallery.

???? January 22 – Took a holy dip in the Sangam with his entire cabinet, held a special cabinet meeting at the Mela site.

???? January 25 – Attended Akhil Bhartiya Avadhoot Besh Barah Panth Yogi Mahasabha, visited Gorakhnath Akhara, and participated in VHP’s (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) convention.

???? January 27 – Welcomed Home Minister Amit Shah at the Maha Kumbh Mela, performed rituals at Triveni Sangam.

???? February 1 – Visited Bharat Sevashram Camp, welcomed Vice President of India, and met diplomats from 73 countries to discuss India’s spiritual heritage.

???? February 4 – Participated in the Buddhist Maha Kumbh, interacted with the media, and welcomed the King of Bhutan.

Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Upcoming Visit by CM Yogi Adityanath

CM Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to visit the Maha Kumbh Mela once again on February 25, 2025. This will mark his 18th visit to the event since the official logo launch in October 2024.
