KKN Gurugram Desk | The Uttar Pradesh  has launched several welfare schemes for laborers, among which the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana holds special significance. This scheme to provide financial assistance to construction workers for their daughters’ weddings, reducing their financial burden.

Under this scheme, eligible laborers can receive to ₹61,000 in financial aid, depending on the nature of the marriage. This initiative is a major step toward supporting economically weaker families and promoting inter-caste marriages.

Financial Assistance Under Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana

As per Nagendra Tripathi, the Labor Enforcement Officer of Basti, the UP government provides financial assistance under this scheme as follows:

  1. ₹55,000 – If the laborer applies within three months of their daughter’s wedding.
  2. ₹61,000 – If the marriage is inter-caste, an additional incentive is provided.
  3. ₹65,000 – If the wedding is a mass marriage with at least 11 couples at the same venue.

This financial assistance helps laborer families cover marriage expenses and ensures that financial constraints do not become a hurdle in their daughters’ marriages.

Who is Eligible for Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana?

To apply for financial assistance under this scheme, laborers must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Beneficiary Category

  • The applicant must be a registered construction worker under the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (UPBOCW).
  • The applicant’s daughter must be above 18 years of age at the time of marriage.

2. Application Timing

  • The laborer must apply within three months (90 days) of the wedding date to avail of the benefits.

3. Residency Requirement

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.

4. Other Conditions

  • If the wedding is inter-caste, the laborer is entitled to a higher grant (₹61,000).
  • If 11 or more couples get married in a mass wedding event, each couple receives ₹65,000.

Step 1: Collect Required Documents

Before applying, ensure you have the following documents:

  • Card of the applicant
  • Marriage Certificate (if already married)
  • Birth Certificate of the daughter
  • BPL (Below Poverty Line) or Labor Registration Certificate
  • Bank Account Details (for direct fund transfer)
  • Caste Certificate (for inter-caste marriage)
  • Wedding Invitation Card (if applicable)

  • Visit the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Labor Department (http://uplabour.gov.in).
  • Click on the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana 2025 application link.
  • Register using your Aadhaar number and mobile number.
  • Fill in the application form with your personal and bank details.
  • Upload the required documents in PDF format.
  • Click on Submit and note down the application number for future reference.

Step 3: Offline Application (If Applicable)

  • Visit the nearest Labor Welfare Office.
  • Collect the application form and fill in all required details.
  • Attach the necessary documents and submit the form to the concerned officer.
  • The application will be processed, and the amount will be credited to the bank account upon approval.
