Director Vignesh Shivan praised Vidaamuyarchi in his review, especially highlighting Ajith Kumar’s performance. He mentioned that the film was an intense thriller, with Ajith’s screen presence holding the entire film together. Shivan also appreciated the realistic action scenes and the emotional depth that Ajith brought to the character. He also gave credit to Anirudh’s music, saying it added to the experience, especially during intense scenes.
