KKN Gurugram Desk | In a shocking incident in Meerut’s Partapur area, the decapitated body of a 17-year-old girl, identified as Aastha, was discovered in a canal near Bahadurpur village on June 5, 2025. Aastha, a Class 12 student and daughter of a CRPF personnel stationed in Chhattisgarh, had been missing since the previous day. Her family had not reported her disappearance.
Discovery and Identification
A farmer spotted the headless torso and alerted the police. Upon investigation, authorities found a slip of paper in Aastha’s hand containing a name and phone number. Contacting the number led them to Vikas, a young man from Nangli Sadharan village, who confirmed he was in a relationship with Aastha. Her mother and brother later identified the body.
Investigation and Arrests
Preliminary investigations suggest the murder was an act of honour killing, allegedly perpetrated by Aastha’s family due to disapproval of her relationship. Police have detained her mother, two maternal uncles, and a cousin for questioning. The vehicle used to transport her body has also been seized. As of now, Aastha’s severed head has not been recovered, and search operations are ongoing.
The gruesome nature of the crime has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the persistent issue of honour-based violence in the region. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
