Shubham Kumar: From Katihar to IAS Topper

Shubham Kumar hails from Kumhari village in Bihar’s Katihar district. He pursued his early education at Vidya Vihar Residential School in Purnia and Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Bokaro, where he achieved an impressive 96% in his 12th-grade examinations. Subsequently, he graduated with a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.

His journey to the top of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination was marked by determination and resilience. After securing the 290th rank in his first attempt in 2019, Shubham’s unwavering commitment led him to clinch the All India Rank 1 in 2020. Currently, he serves as the Municipal Commissioner of Bhagalpur, Bihar, and has previously held the position of Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in Barh, Patna district.

Priyangi Mehta: A Self-Made BPSC Topper

Priyangi Mehta, a resident of Sandalpur in Patna City, comes from a modest background. Her father, Mithilesh Kumar, runs an electronic repair shop, and her mother is a homemaker. Demonstrating exceptional academic prowess, Priyangi topped the 68th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination in her first attempt, relying solely on self-study without any coaching assistance.

Her academic journey includes completing her 10th grade at Satyam International School and her 12th grade in Arts from Arvind Mahila College, both in Patna. She then pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Not stopping at her BPSC success, Priyangi aimed higher and secured the 261st rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, leading to her selection into the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).
