Former Union Minister RK Singh Criticizes Bihar’s Liquor Ban and Advocates for Change: A Threat to Youth and Farmers

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | In a significant statement that is sparking debates across Bihar, former Union Minister RK Singh has voiced his concerns about the ongoing liquor ban in Bihar, suggesting that it is doing more harm than good, particularly for the younger generation. He criticized the liquor ban for leading youth into the clutches of addiction and involvement in the illegal liquor trade. Singh went on to advocate for the removal of the ban, arguing that it has only caused more problems for the state’s young people.

At a recent event held by the Kisan Sangathan in Sarayana, near Ara, RK Singh elaborated on his stance. The event, held at Bhikham Das Ka Mathia, a local community space, was a gathering of farmers and activists. Singh, addressing the audience, emphasized that the prohibition of alcohol was negatively impacting the youth of the state, leading them toward addiction and illicit activities. He also highlighted that while law enforcement is focused on cracking down on the illegal alcohol trade, the real issues facing the youth and farmers are being overlooked.

RK Singh’s Statement on Liquor Ban

Singh remarked that the current liquor ban has pushed young people into dangerous situations, where they are either falling into addiction or becoming involved in the liquor business themselves. He went on to express his support for the repeal of the ban, suggesting that it has not been effective in reducing alcohol-related issues but has instead exacerbated them. Singh emphasized that the state’s focus should be on addressing the root causes of substance abuse, rather than imposing broad prohibitions that only push the trade underground.

Moreover, Singh pointed out that the state’s law enforcement and administration are distracted by efforts to curb the illegal liquor trade, leaving other pressing issues, such as land disputes among farmers, unresolved. He was approached by farmers during the event with concerns regarding their land titles and disputes, to which he assured immediate action. Singh promised to raise the issue with the district authorities and ensure that the problems were resolved promptly.

Support for Farmers and Local Development

During the event, farmers from the region also raised issues related to local development. They called for the establishment of a women’s college in Sarayana and demanded action to remove encroachments in the Sarayana market. Singh promised to follow up on these issues, indicating his commitment to both agriculture and education development in the region.

In addition to these local concerns, Ajay Singh, a BJP leader and social worker, praised RK Singh’s continuous efforts to support the development of the region. He highlighted Singh’s role in advocating for infrastructure improvements and working closely with the local community.

The event was organized by Indian Farmers Union district convenor Daya Shankar Singh, with farmer Dharmraj Mahto presiding over the gathering. Several prominent figures, including social worker Pramod KushwahaMunna SinghIndrabhai Singh, and the head priest of Ghaghar MathShri Baikunth Nath Ji Maharaj, also participated in the event.

NDA Government’s Efforts to Reach the Public

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Raghvendra Pratap Singh held a meeting with mandal presidents, former presidents, and senior workers at his residence in Badhra. The meeting was focused on strategizing for the upcoming BJP events and ensuring the efficient implementation of the party’s plans. Singh emphasized the importance of reaching out to every household in the region to make the public aware of the government’s various welfare schemes.

He stressed that party workers must connect with the people at the grassroots level, making sure that the NDA government’s initiatives reach even the remotest areas. Singh also expressed gratitude for the Rs. 5 lakh donation made by BJP State President Dr. Dilip Jayaswal for the reconstruction of the Maa Aranya Devi Temple, and a vote of thanks was passed to acknowledge the contribution.

The Issue of Renaming Ara Station

In a separate development, Ara MLA Raghvendra Pratap Singh expressed strong opposition to the proposal by MP Sudama Prasad to rename Ara station. During the meeting, a resolution of condemnation was passed against the proposal to change the station’s name.

Singh criticized the current MP for failing to take significant action for the development of Ara, unlike previous MPs who were known for bringing forth initiatives that benefited the region. He remarked that the current MP has failed to contribute meaningfully to the region’s development, and expressed disappointment with his inaction. The renaming of Ara station was seen as a political move, and Singh voiced that such an action would be detrimental to the pride of the people of Ara district. According to Singh, the proposal was both unnecessary and disrespectful to the region’s historical and cultural identity.

Support for BJP Leader Dhananjay Tiwari

In addition to political discussions, the meeting also saw a defense of newly appointed BJP district vice-president Dhananjay Tiwari. Singh refuted accusations against Tiwari, calling them baseless and reaffirmed his support for him as a dedicated BJP worker. He stressed that such allegations were aimed at tarnishing the reputation of an honest party member, and Tiwari’s efforts to promote BJP’s agenda in the region were commendable.

In conclusion, RK Singh’s comments on Bihar’s liquor banland issues, and youth concerns highlight a complex intersection of policy, law enforcement, and social welfare. His call for the removal of the liquor ban resonates with many who believe that the policy has failed to address the root causes of addiction and has only pushed the trade underground. Singh’s advocacy for farmers’ rights and local development is an effort to address broader issues of governance and public welfare.

The ongoing discussions regarding Ara station’s renamingthe NDA government’s welfare schemes, and the BJP’s local leadership further demonstrate the dynamic political landscape in Bihar. As the state navigates these issues, it will be crucial for both the state government and the opposition to prioritize public welfare and sustainable development. The focus should not only be on punitive measures but also on holistic solutions that promote growth, social stability, and a fair legal framework.
