Bihar STET 2025: Application Process Reopens After Delay

Published on

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has finally announced the restart of the application process for the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2025. After nearly two years of waiting, aspiring candidates can now submit their forms for this important examination. The online registration window, which had earlier been postponed, has been reopened following strong protests by applicants. Candidates can apply on the official portal bsebstet.com until 27 September 2025.

The STET 2025 examination is a crucial step for those aspiring to become teachers in Bihar. Successful candidates will be granted lifetime validity certificates and will also become eligible for upcoming BPSC teacher recruitment drives.

Application Process Reopened After Protests

Initially, the BSEB had planned to open applications between 8 September and 19 September. However, technical delays and administrative confusion led to suspension of the process midway. This sudden pause created frustration among aspirants. On Thursday, many students gathered outside the BSEB headquarters, staging protests and demanding immediate resumption of the registration process.

Student leader Saurav Kumar highlighted that the Education Minister had earlier announced application dates from 8 to 16 September. Later, the dates were revised to 11 to 19 September. Despite these announcements, when the official advertisement was released on 12 September, the application link was still inactive. This triggered unrest, as candidates felt the board was ignoring their concerns.

A delegation of aspirants met the Secretary of the BSEB and insisted that the application portal be activated without further delay. Leaders like Rahul Kumar, Ayush Kumar and Vaibhav Kumar were among those who participated in the protest. Responding to the pressure, the board reopened the online form submission on Friday.

Examination Fee Structure

The BSEB has fixed the application fee for candidates. For a single paper, General, BC and EWS applicants must pay ₹960. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PH categories must pay ₹760. For both papers, the fee for General, BC and EWS applicants is ₹1440, while SC, ST and PH candidates need to pay ₹1140.

The fee will be accepted only through online payment modes. This system has been introduced to ensure transparency and efficiency in handling large numbers of applications.

Examination Dates and Result Schedule

According to the board, the STET 2025 examination will be held from 4 October to 25 October. Candidates will appear for either Paper 1 or Paper 2, depending on their eligibility, while some may opt for both. The evaluation process will be conducted swiftly, with results scheduled to be announced on 1 November 2025.

The board has assured aspirants that the process will be transparent and efficient, avoiding unnecessary delays. Strict measures will be taken to prevent malpractices during the examination.

Lifetime Validity Certificate for Qualified Candidates

One of the most significant features of STET 2025 is the provision of lifetime validity certificates. Candidates who clear the examination will receive a certificate that never expires. This certification will serve as a direct entry pass for appearing in BPSC teacher recruitment examinations.

This move has been widely welcomed by aspirants as it reduces the burden of appearing for repeated eligibility tests. The decision ensures that candidates can focus on long-term career planning once they qualify the STET.

Details of Paper 1 (Secondary Level)

Paper 1 of the Bihar STET 2025 will focus on the secondary school level. The subjects include Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science. Candidates applying for this level must hold a graduation or postgraduation degree in the relevant subject along with a B.Ed. or an integrated teacher training program.

For Mathematics, applicants must have studied Mathematics in graduation along with Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science or Statistics. Science applicants must hold a combination of Biology, Botany and Chemistry or a relevant engineering degree. For Social Science, candidates must have a degree in History, Geography, Economics or Political Science, with History or Geography being compulsory. Language candidates must hold a degree in the concerned language.

Paper 1 aims to test both subject knowledge and teaching aptitude. The syllabus has been designed to evaluate how well candidates can apply academic knowledge in a teaching environment.

Details of Paper 2 (Higher Secondary Level)

Paper 2 of the STET 2025 will focus on higher secondary teaching positions. The subjects include Hindi, English, Urdu, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Philosophy, and Home Science.

Eligibility for Paper 2 requires candidates to hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject, along with a B.Ed., or integrated teacher education programs like BA-B.Ed., B.Sc.-B.Ed. or a three-year B.Ed.-M.Ed. program.

This paper is expected to be more challenging, focusing on advanced subject knowledge and pedagogical skills suitable for higher secondary education.

Why the Delay Sparked Outrage Among Aspirants

The delay in activating the application link created massive disappointment among thousands of candidates. Many of them had been preparing for the exam for months and were eager to apply. The constant change of dates and lack of communication from the board added to the frustration.

The protests outside the BSEB office reflected the rising impatience among candidates who feared that the exam might get postponed further. Some aspirants criticized the administration for being careless about such a crucial examination that determines the future of teaching careers in Bihar.

By reopening the portal, the board has attempted to calm the situation, but aspirants are still keeping a close watch on further developments.

Importance of Bihar STET 2025 for Teacher Recruitment

The Bihar STET 2025 plays a vital role in the teacher recruitment process of the state. With thousands of teaching positions expected to open under BPSC recruitment, clearing the STET is the first mandatory step.

By granting lifetime validity, the BSEB has aligned its policy with national standards, making the certificate more valuable for long-term use. This change also reduces the frequency of examinations and ensures that once a candidate qualifies, they can directly focus on recruitment opportunities.

Aspirants’ Preparation Strategies

With examination dates now confirmed, candidates are intensifying their preparations. Coaching institutes across Bihar are conducting special crash courses for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Aspirants are focusing on subject-specific revisions, mock tests and practice papers to boost confidence.

Many candidates are also using digital learning platforms, which have become popular in recent years. Online test series and video lectures are providing last-minute guidance to help aspirants secure better performance.

Expected Challenges During Examination

While the BSEB has promised smooth conduct of the examination, challenges remain. Managing a large number of candidates across multiple districts will require strict security and logistical arrangements.

Previous examinations in Bihar have faced issues such as technical glitches and irregularities, so aspirants are hopeful that this time the board will ensure transparency. Authorities have stated that biometric verification and digital monitoring will be introduced to prevent cheating and impersonation.

Key Dates to Remember

  • Online applications are open until 27 September 2025.

  • Examination will be held from 4 October to 25 October.

  • Results will be announced on 1 November 2025.

The Bihar STET 2025 has finally moved forward after a prolonged wait. The reopening of the application process has brought relief to thousands of aspirants who had been uncertain about their future. With lifetime validity certificates and direct eligibility for BPSC teacher recruitment, the stakes are high for candidates.

As the examination window approaches, the focus now shifts to preparation and performance. The BSEB’s commitment to transparency will be tested once again, as aspirants expect a fair and smooth process. For now, Bihar’s teaching aspirants can finally move a step closer to their goals.
