Ajmer : Heavy Rain Causes Severe Disruptions in the City

Published on

Ajmer has been severely affected by heavy rainfall, which began on the night of July 18, 2025. The continuous downpour has caused several areas in the city to flood, disrupting daily life and essential activities. The roads have been submerged, and the stormwater drains have overflowed, further exacerbating the situation. With conditions worsening, the local administration has initiated relief operations to assist the affected residents.

Severe Impact on Ajmer’s Infrastructure

Since last night, the city of Ajmer has been grappling with heavy rainfall that has caused massive flooding in several localities. As the rain continued throughout the night, water accumulated on the streets, submerging many areas and hampering normal life. Roads have been blocked, homes have been flooded, and traffic has come to a halt, causing immense inconvenience to the residents.

Roads Submerged and Traffic Disrupted

Due to the relentless downpour, several streets have been inundated with water, making it difficult for residents to commute. Water has entered homes, especially in low-lying areas, leading to damage and a dire need for immediate relief. The continuous rain has disrupted traffic in the city, causing severe delays and posing a threat to the safety of commuters.

Ajmer Railway Station Inundated

One of the most affected areas is the Ajmer Railway Station. The station premises have been completely submerged, with water covering the platforms and surrounding areas. Passengers traveling through the station were forced to wade through knee-deep water to reach the trains or platforms. The station, being one of the busiest in the region, faced significant challenges in managing the crowd and ensuring safety during the downpour.

Flash Flooding in Pushkar

The heavy rainfall has also led to flash flooding in Pushkar, a prominent tourist town near Ajmer. The situation has become so severe that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was deployed to evacuate affected residents. The floodwaters in many areas reached dangerously high levels, and both people and animals faced immense hardship due to the flooding. The NDRF teams worked tirelessly to rescue stranded residents and offer assistance where necessary.

Difficulties for Pilgrims in Pushkar

The ongoing rains have caused significant problems for the pilgrims traveling to Pushkar for the annual pilgrimage. Many devotees, who were carrying the sacred Kavad (water pitcher), had to walk through knee-deep water, making their journey difficult and uncomfortable. Despite the challenges, the pilgrims continued their journey, undeterred by the conditions.

Badi River in Ajmer on the Verge of Overflowing

One of the main rivers in Ajmer, the Badi River, has reached alarming levels due to continuous rainfall. The river has overflowed, causing water to flood nearby colonies. Many of the low-lying areas near the river have been severely impacted, with homes and local markets submerged. The situation has left the residents of these areas in a state of distress as they struggle to manage the floodwaters and evacuate their homes.

Local Markets and Electricity Supply Disrupted

The heavy rainfall has caused local markets to be deserted. Shops and businesses have been forced to shut down due to the flooding and waterlogged streets. Moreover, in many areas, power supply has been interrupted, further compounding the difficulties faced by the residents. Without electricity, many people are unable to charge their phones or access essential services.

Relief Efforts Underway

In response to the worsening situation, the local administration has swung into action, initiating relief efforts to help those affected by the floods. Authorities have set up temporary shelters for the displaced, and NDRF teams are working on the ground to provide rescue operations. Emergency services are being mobilized to deliver food, medical supplies, and other essential items to those in need.

The city’s drainage systems are being monitored to ensure that any further rainwater is properly drained to avoid additional flooding. The local government is also coordinating with nearby districts and authorities to ensure that the situation is managed effectively.

Looking Ahead: Forecast and Preparedness

Weather experts predict that the rain may continue for the next few days, though the intensity might lessen. However, the flood situation could worsen if more heavy rainfall occurs in the coming hours. As Ajmer continues to face this challenging weather, the administration is urging residents to stay indoors, especially in flood-prone areas.

Emergency response teams are on high alert, ready to tackle any additional flooding that may occur. The district administration is also working on securing vital infrastructure and ensuring that relief reaches the most affected areas.

The heavy rains in Ajmer have created a dire situation, with floods affecting daily life and causing significant damage to infrastructure. The local administration has responded swiftly with relief operations, and the NDRF teams are working around the clock to assist those in need. As the situation continues to unfold, the residents of Ajmer hope for a quick resolution and further assistance from the authorities.
