West Champaran District Seats Overall Results 2025

Published on

In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has secured a resounding victory in West Champaran. Out of the nine assembly seats in the district, the NDA claimed seven, leaving just two seats for the Mahagathbandhan. In the previous elections of 2020, the NDA had won eight out of nine seats, while the Mahagathbandhan had won only one seat. In this election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won six seats, and Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] secured one. The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) coalition, which includes Congress, won two seats.

Detailed Seat Results in West Champaran

In the Bairia Assembly seat, BJP’s Renuka Devi defeated Congress candidate Wasi Ahmed by a margin of 22,373 votes. Renuka received 91,907 votes, while Wasi Ahmed garnered 69,534 votes. In the Naotan Assembly seat, former minister and BJP candidate Narayan Prasad won by a margin of 22,072 votes, securing 101,952 votes, whereas Congress’s Amit Kumar managed only 79,880 votes.

Lauira Assembly also witnessed BJP’s Vinay Bihari defeating his nearest rival, Ran Kaushal Pratap Singh of the Vikasheel Insaf Party, with a margin of 26,966 votes. Vinay received 96,510 votes, while Ran Kaushal Pratap Singh received 69,544 votes. In Narkatiyaganj, BJP’s Sanjay Kumar Pandey emerged victorious with 100,044 votes, defeating RJD’s Deepak Yadav, who managed 73,586 votes, by a margin of 26,458 votes.

In Ramnagar, BJP’s Nand Kishore Ram, making his debut in elections, won by a significant margin of 35,680 votes. Nand Kishore received 115,214 votes, while RJD’s Subodh Paswan only received 79,534 votes.

Sikta Seat Sees an Upset

The Sikta constituency saw a dramatic shift. In this seat, Virendra Prasad Gupta, the sitting MLA from the Mahagathbandhan, finished third with 37,252 votes. In a surprising turn of events, Samriddh Verma of JD(U), who contested from this seat, emerged as the winner with 97,173 votes. Independent candidate and former minister Khurshid Alam secured 50,029 votes and finished in second place.

Close Contest in Chanpatia and Valmikinagar

In Chanpatia, the contest was extremely close, with Congress’s Abhishek Ranjan winning by a narrow margin of 602 votes after the 25th round of counting. Abhishek secured 87,538 votes, while BJP’s Umakant Singh received 86,936 votes. The race was close throughout the counting rounds, and Abhishek managed to hold his lead in the final tally. Meanwhile, in Valmikinagar, Congress’s Surendra Prasad won by 1,675 votes, defeating JD(U)’s incumbent MLA Dheerendra Pratap Singh, who received 1,06,055 votes.

Counting Trends and Updates

As the vote counting progressed in the morning, the trends indicated a dominant lead for the NDA in many constituencies. By 10:20 AM, after the fifth round of counting, BJP’s candidates were leading in Baghaha, Ramnagar, and Loria. BJP candidates were ahead by 1,904 votes in Baghaha, 2,385 votes in Valmikinagar, and 8,039 votes in Sikta.

In Naotan, BJP’s Narayan Prasad was ahead by 97 votes, and in Narkatiyaganj, BJP’s Sanjay Kumar Pandey was leading by 1,289 votes. Similarly, in Channpatia, Congress’s Abhishek Ranjan had a 1,810 vote lead. By 9:20 AM, the trends showed BJP’s dominance in key constituencies.

Key Victories for NDA Candidates

Among the major victories for the NDA, BJP’s Renuka Devi’s win in Bairia was significant. She defeated Congress’s Wasi Ahmed by a large margin. BJP’s other winners in West Champaran included Vinay Bihari in Loria, Narayan Prasad in Naotan, and Nand Kishore Ram in Ramnagar. In Baghaha, BJP’s Ram Singh also emerged victorious. JD(U) also contributed to the NDA’s success with a victory in Valmikinagar by Dheerendra Pratap Singh.

Mahagathbandhan’s Performance and Future Outlook

The Mahagathbandhan’s performance in West Champaran was disappointing, with only two seats out of the nine being won. Congress managed to secure a win in Valmikinagar, and the CPI(ML) Liberation’s Virendra Prasad Gupta emerged victorious in Sikta. However, the overall performance highlighted the challenges faced by the opposition in Bihar. Despite some successes, the Mahagathbandhan was clearly outperformed by the NDA.

The results in West Champaran reflect the broader trend in the state, where the NDA has emerged as the dominant political force. The Mahagathbandhan’s defeat in this district points to the growing influence of the NDA and its allies, particularly the BJP, in Bihar’s political landscape. The RJD-led alliance will need to reassess its strategies and leadership to regain ground in future elections.

NDA’s Victory and Growing Influence in Bihar Politics

The victory of the NDA in West Champaran is a testament to its political dominance in Bihar. With a strong performance across multiple constituencies, the NDA has reinforced its position as the primary political force in the state. The BJP’s growing influence in Bihar, evidenced by its strong showing in these elections, further solidifies its role as the central figure in the NDA alliance.

As the NDA continues to expand its reach, the opposition parties, including the Mahagathbandhan, will need to reconsider their strategies. This includes evaluating the role of smaller parties like Congress and CPI, which failed to deliver significant results despite being part of the alliance.

The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections have clearly marked the NDA’s dominance in West Champaran and across the state. The significant number of seats won by NDA candidates highlights the shift in Bihar’s political dynamics. The RJD-led Mahagathbandhan’s disappointing performance signals the need for a reassessment of strategies and leadership within the opposition.

As the NDA consolidates its position, the opposition must regroup and adapt to the evolving political landscape. Bihar’s politics is undergoing a transformation, and the 2025 election results are a clear indication of the changing tide. With the NDA’s victory in West Champaran, it is evident that the political landscape in Bihar has shifted, and the coming years will shape the future of the state’s political fabric.
