Rahul Gandhi Attacks BJP During Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar

Published by

The Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar has become a strong political platform for opposition leaders. During this campaign, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of Opposition, launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He accused the ruling party of trying to undermine democracy by removing millions of names from the electoral rolls, targeting marginalized communities.

Constitution as the Soul of the Nation

Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is the soul of India. According to him, the Constitution guarantees dignity and equal rights to Dalits, backward classes, minorities, and the poor. He alleged that BJP’s current policies aim to weaken this very foundation by suppressing the voices of marginalized groups.

He pointed out that removing voters from the electoral rolls amounts to stripping away the basic rights that the Constitution provides. Gandhi argued that such actions are not just political manipulations but direct assaults on democracy.

Accusation of Removing 65 Lakh Names

The Congress leader claimed that the BJP has deliberately deleted 65 lakh names from the voter list in Bihar. He asserted that these deletions disproportionately affect Dalits, backward classes, minorities, and economically weaker sections.

According to Gandhi, not a single wealthy person’s name was removed from the list. Instead, the so-called voter list cleansing has targeted only the underprivileged, leaving the rich unaffected. He alleged that this selective deletion is an attempt by the BJP to silence the voices of the poor and marginalized in the democratic process.

Democracy Under Attack

Rahul Gandhi declared that the biggest attack on democracy is “vote theft.” He explained that when millions of names are erased from the electoral rolls, it directly deprives people of their democratic rights. Gandhi emphasized that elections are meant to represent every citizen equally, and any manipulation of voter lists undermines the essence of democracy.

He reiterated that the INDIA alliance stands firmly with the people and will resist any such attempts at disenfranchisement. According to him, BJP’s strategy of removing voters is an attempt to murder democracy, but Bihar will not allow this to happen.

Bihar’s Historic Resistance

While addressing the rally, Rahul Gandhi highlighted Bihar’s historic role in protecting democracy and social justice. He reminded the crowd that Bihar has always been a land of resistance, where people have stood up against oppression. From social reform movements to democratic struggles, Bihar has played a key role in shaping India’s political direction.

He assured the people that the INDIA alliance would fight with full strength to defend their rights. He declared that no amount of pressure or manipulation would prevent them from exposing BJP’s “vote theft” strategy.

Call to Protect Rights of the Poor

Gandhi stressed that the Constitution is not merely a document but a protector of the rights of marginalized communities. He accused the BJP-RSS government of working systematically to erase those rights. According to him, this deletion of 65 lakh names is only the beginning of a much larger plan to silence poor and backward sections across the country.

He vowed that this conspiracy of voter manipulation would be challenged on every front, both politically and legally. He stated that sooner or later, the BJP would be held accountable for this alleged “vote theft.”

INDIA Alliance Stands United

The rally also served as a reminder of the INDIA alliance’s strategy to unite against the BJP. Gandhi emphasized that the alliance is not merely a political coalition but a people’s movement to safeguard democracy. He said that by standing with the marginalized, the alliance reflects the true spirit of the Constitution.

The message was clear: the INDIA alliance plans to make voter rights and electoral fairness a central theme in their campaign against BJP. The accusation of disenfranchisement is expected to resonate strongly with voters, particularly in states like Bihar where caste and class-based politics play a crucial role.

Rahul Gandhi’s fiery speech during the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar underscored the opposition’s aggressive stance against the BJP. His allegations that 65 lakh names were removed from the voter list, mostly belonging to Dalits, backward classes, and the poor, highlight the gravity of the accusations.

By framing the issue as a direct attack on the Constitution and democracy itself, Gandhi has set the tone for the INDIA alliance’s campaign narrative. Whether these claims translate into electoral gains remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the battle over voter rights is set to become a defining issue in the political contest between the BJP and the opposition.
