The monsoon has once again become elusive for Delhi-NCR, with the capital experiencing a return of the humid heat. The continuous heavy rainfall expected during the monsoon season has been absent, resulting in uncomfortable weather conditions in the region. While occasional light rain offers brief relief, the lack of consistent rainfall has prevented any permanent solution to the sweltering conditions.

According to the meteorological department, the weather in Delhi and the entire NCR region will remain largely the same for the next 6-7 days. Cloudy skies will prevail throughout the day, with sudden bursts of strong sunlight expected. Rain showers are also forecasted, but they will be sporadic. The forecast indicates that not only Delhi but also nearby regions, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and the rest of North India, will experience light to moderate rainfall for the upcoming week.

Weather Forecast for North India in the Coming Days

The weather department predicts that areas across North India will witness ongoing rainfall. A mixture of light to moderate showers is expected in the coming days, with cloudy conditions dominating the sky. This rainfall will help in temporarily cooling down the regions but will not be enough to alleviate the ongoing heat.

The states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi will experience intermittent rainfall, especially during the evenings and nights. The weather department has issued a warning for light to moderate rain showers in these areas, along with possible thunderstorms in certain regions.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, the monsoon has started gaining momentum again, bringing heavy rainfall to several districts. The capital, Lucknow, along with districts like Sitapur, Chandauli, and others, experienced intense rainfall on Wednesday. Further, Thursday is expected to bring even more substantial rainfall across the state, with forecasts predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in many areas until July 22, 2025.

Western Uttar Pradesh is expected to witness rainfall and thunderstorms with significant downpours on July 17, 2025. In Eastern Uttar Pradesh, almost all areas are expected to see showers with thunder and lightning. An Orange Alert has been issued for areas with expected heavy to very heavy rainfall. The department has also cautioned about the possibility of lightning strikes in certain regions.

Temperatures Across Major Cities in India Today

Here is the expected temperature for major cities across India today:

  • Delhi: Max 33°C, Min 25°C

  • Mumbai: Max 32°C, Min 26°C

  • Kolkata: Max 32°C, Min 27°C

  • Chennai: Max 37°C, Min 25°C

  • Patna: Max 32°C, Min 25°C

  • Ranchi: Max 28°C, Min 23°C

  • Jaipur: Max 31°C, Min 26°C

  • Ahmedabad: Max 36°C, Min 29°C

  • Nainital: Max 26°C, Min 23°C

  • Shimla: Max 24°C, Min 18°C

  • Bhopal: Max 31°C, Min 25°C

  • Bhubaneswar: Max 31°C, Min 26°C

  • Amritsar: Max 30°C, Min 27°C

Bihar Weather Update: Orange and Red Alerts Issued

The meteorological department has issued Red and Orange Alerts in several districts of Bihar due to the threat of intense rainfall. The districts of Muzaffarpur, Saran, Vaishali, and Nalanda are on Red Alert, with the possibility of heavy rain. People in these areas have been advised to stay indoors.

For the rest of the districts, including Patna, Sitamarhi, Aurangabad, Arwal, Rohtas, Jehanabad, Gaya, Banka, Khagaria, Darbhanga, Madhubani, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Samastipur, Nawada, Shekhpura, Lakhisarai, and Begusarai, the Orange Alert has been issued. These areas are expected to experience heavy rainfall, with the risk of localized flooding and disruption.

Uttarakhand: Heavy Rainfall Warning for the Coming Days

In Uttarakhand, heavy rainfall continues across both the hilly regions and plains. Dehradun, the state capital, has witnessed intermittent rain, with heavy showers recorded in several areas. The meteorological department has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Dehradun, Nainital, and several other districts for July 17, 2025. The rain is expected to be accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The weather department also stated that Dehradun saw a 2.8°C drop in temperature on Wednesday after heavy rainfall. The continuous showers in some parts of the city led to a cooling effect, providing some respite from the heat. The department has warned that the rainy weather will continue for the next 7 days, with the likelihood of heavy downpours in the coming days.

Weather Warnings for the Next Week

Looking ahead, the meteorological department has predicted that the rain will continue to affect several regions of North India for the next week. The situation in Delhi-NCR is expected to remain consistent with partly cloudy skies, with some rainfall. However, the temperatures in the region are expected to stay high during the day, with peaks around 33°C.

In Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand, heavy rainfall is expected to persist, with an Orange Alert in place for regions that will receive the heaviest downpours. The warnings for lightning strikes remain in effect in several areas, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions.

Monsoon and Its Impact on Daily Life

The ongoing monsoon rains in many parts of India have affected daily life, particularly in regions where heavy rains are anticipated. Traffic disruptions, waterlogging, and local flooding are common in areas where rainfall intensity has increased. The government and local authorities are working to minimize the impact of these weather events by issuing warnings and taking necessary precautions to ensure public safety.

The weather across India continues to fluctuate due to monsoon rains, with Delhi-NCR experiencing a break in the heavy rainfall and a return of humid heat. While light showers may offer temporary relief, the prolonged absence of consistent rain has made the weather uncomfortable in some regions.

Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other parts of North India are experiencing varying weather conditions, with heavy rainfall predicted over the next few days. The meteorological department continues to monitor the situation closely, and citizens are encouraged to stay updated through official weather reports.

In the coming days, the weather in Delhi and surrounding regions will likely remain cloudy with occasional sunshine. However, heavier rainfall is expected in various parts of North India, especially in areas under Red and Orange Alerts.
