On June 9, 2025, marking 11 years since Prime Minister Narendra Modi first took office, BJP President JP Nadda addressed the media to present what he called the government’s “report card”. He said India has moved from years of appeasement politics to governance based on accountability and performance .

Government’s Growth Agenda and Global Positioning

Nadda highlighted India’s dramatic rise in the global economy—from 10th to 5th, and soon to 4th place according to IMF projections. He called it “unchallenged growth” and said:

“We have become the fastest-growing major economy in the world under Modi’s leadership.”

He added that the economy is now firmly on a path toward Viksit Bharat (developed India) and Amrit Kaal, in line with the slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ .

Bold Reforms: Article 370, Triple Talaq, CAA, and More

During his speech at BJP headquarters in Delhi, Nadda listed several landmark reforms:

• Abrogation of Article 370, which rescinded Kashmir’s autonomy

• Criminalisation of Triple Talaq, protecting Muslim women’s rights

• Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)

• Demonetisation of high-denomination notes in 2016

• New Waqf Act

• 33% reservation for women in local bodies

These were identified as “bold decisions” that assume India’s bold reform agenda.

Governance Overhaul: Report‑Card Politics and Accountability

Nadda emphasised the shift from divisive politics to a government focused on outcome-driven reporting:

“Under Modi, we began a politics of the ‘report card’, where every project is accountable to the people. That has become the new normal.”

He pointed out that, prior to 2014, Indian politics was marred by middle-path appeasement and negativity. Now, a transparent, responsible governance model prevails .

Welfare, Infrastructure, and Crisis Management

Nadda highlighted neural welfare and crisis response initiatives:

• Placement of 220 crore free COVID-19 vaccine doses through Vaccine Maitri

• Operation Ganga and safe evacuation of Indians from Ukraine

• Rescue missions: Operation Devi Shakti, Operation Rahat

These were presented as examples of India’s emergent global role and proactive governance.

Security, Extremism Reduction, and Rule of Law

Nadda noted the fall in Naxal-affected districts from 126 to just 18, attributing this to stronger security policies

He framed this alongside efforts against corruption and in favour of economic discipline as concluding a transformative decade in governance .

Opposition Clash: Calling Out Rahul Gandhi

Nadda did not shy away from politics, calling Congress leader Rahul Gandhi “irresponsible” and said:

“May god give him good sense.”

He criticised their conduct and dismissed their criticisms as politically motivated delays.

JP Nadda characterized the Modi era as an epoch of bold reforms, improved governance, and India’s march toward a ‘developed nation’ dream. From empowering women and redefining Indian polity, to curbing extremism and fostering public accountability, he said:

“These achievements deserve to be etched in golden letters in our history.”

He concluded by affirming that underpinned by transparent governance and bold reforms, the NDA will aim for a clear mandate in the upcoming general election, pushing for national priorities like One Nation One Election and deepening economic consolidation.
