KKN Gurugram Desk | In a significant diplomatic initiative, the Indian government has announced the deployment of seven all-party parliamentary delegations to various countries. This move aims to expose Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism and to reinforce India’s zero-tolerance policy towards such activities.
The initiative, termed “Operation Sindoor,” follows the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. In response, India conducted precision strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, reportedly eliminating over 100 militants associated with groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba .
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized the non-partisan nature of this mission, stating, “In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero tolerance to terrorism.”
Each delegation comprises members from various political parties, reflecting a collective national stance. Notable leaders and their assigned countries include:
Shashi Tharoor (Congress): Leading the delegation to the United States, Guyana, Panama, Brazil, and Colombia .
Supriya Sule (NCP): Heading the team to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman.
Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK): Leading the delegation to Russia, Belarus, and Armenia.
Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP): Assigned to engage with European nations.
Baijayant Panda (BJP): Leading the team to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria.Sanjay Kumar Jha (JD-U): Heading the delegation to African nations.
Shrikant Shinde (Shiv Sena): Assigned to East Asian countries.
These delegations aim to engage with international counterparts, presenting evidence of Pakistan’s alleged involvement in terrorist activities and seeking global support to counter such threats.
The inclusion of opposition leaders, particularly Shashi Tharoor, has elicited mixed reactions. While the Congress party officially supports the initiative, some members have expressed dissatisfaction over the selection process, noting that their proposed candidates were overlooked .
Tharoor, addressing the concerns, stated, “I am honoured by the invitation of the government of India to lead an all-party delegation to key capitals, to present our nation’s point of view on recent events. When national interest is involved, and my services are required, I will not be found wanting.”
The delegations are tasked with:
Highlighting India’s Zero-Tolerance Policy: Emphasizing India’s firm stance against terrorism and its commitment to global peace.
Exposing Pakistan’s Alleged Support for Terrorism: Presenting evidence and instances of Pakistan’s purported involvement in cross-border terrorism.
Strengthening International Alliances: Engaging with global partners to build a unified front against terrorism.
This diplomatic outreach underscores India’s proactive approach to international diplomacy, aiming to isolate entities that support terrorism and to foster global cooperation in combating such threats.
India’s decision to send multi-party delegations abroad marks a significant step in its foreign policy, reflecting a unified national resolve to combat terrorism. By involving leaders across the political spectrum, the initiative seeks to present a cohesive front, emphasizing that the fight against terrorism transcends domestic political divisions.
As these delegations embark on their missions, the international community will closely observe India’s efforts to galvanize global support against terrorism and to hold accountable those who perpetuate such threats.
