Govind firmly denied any romantic relationship between Raja and Sonam, describing them as siblings. He stated that they maintained a brother-sister relationship: Raja called Sonam “didi,” and she tied a rakhi on him each year. He contended that rumors of an affair are false.

Despite this claim, Govind admitted that Sonam had previously interacted with Raj Kushwaha, identified by investigators as Sonam’s alleged lover and co-conspirator in the murder.
