Vande Bharat Express to Extend Service from Bhagalpur to Jamalpur

KKN Gurugram Desk | The Gorakhpur-Patliputra Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 26502) has officially begun its regular operations starting Sunday, June 22, 2025. The much-anticipated launch of this high-speed train marks a significant milestone in improving travel connectivity between GorakhpurPatliputra, and Muzaffarpur. The train, which is part of India’s effort to modernize its railway infrastructure, had an impressive performance on its first day, achieving an average speed of 70 km/h between Gorakhpur and Muzaffarpur, and 60 km/h between Gorakhpur and Patliputra.

The train departed from Gorakhpur at 5:42 AM and reached Muzaffarpur Junction on Platform 7 at 10:22 AM, 28 minutes ahead of its scheduled time of 10:50 AM. Despite a one-minute delay in departure from Muzaffarpur, the train showcased its efficient operational capabilities. The CC class of the train saw a high occupancy, with around 80% of its seats occupied on the first day of service.

In response to the train’s arrival, the RPF (Railway Protection Force) implemented stringent security measures at the Muzaffarpur station, ensuring a smooth and safe operation.

 Key Features of the Gorakhpur-Patliputra Vande Bharat Express

The Vande Bharat Express is a fully indigenous, semi-high-speed train developed by Indian Railways under the Make in India initiative. Designed to provide premium travel experiences, the Vande Bharat Express boasts numerous modern amenities and comfort features:

1. High-Speed Performance

The Vande Bharat Express is designed to run at speeds of up to 160 km/h, but for its current routes, it comfortably operates at average speeds ranging from 60 km/h to 70 km/h, ensuring a quicker travel time between major destinations.

2. Modern Amenities

Passengers on the Vande Bharat Express can enjoy luxurious seatingspacious interiors, and state-of-the-art amenities. The train is equipped with features such as automatic doorswifireclining chairs, and air-conditioning for a premium experience.

3. Eco-Friendly Features

This semi-high-speed train also promotes eco-friendly travel with features like energy-efficient systems and regenerative braking technology, which reduces energy consumption and contributes to sustainability.

4. Comfort and Convenience

The Vande Bharat Express offers AC Chair Car and Executive Class for passengers, ensuring a comfortable ride with adequate space and luxury-level services.

 Security Measures for Vande Bharat Express Operations

As the Vande Bharat Express made its first operational journey from Gorakhpur to Muzaffarpur, the RPF took extra care to ensure safety and security. Under the leadership of Inspector Manish Kumarofficials and personnel were stationed at the platform to manage the train’s arrival and departure. Security arrangements were also strengthened at the Muzaffarpur station, which was ready to accommodate the inaugural arrival of this prestigious train.

The enhanced security protocols ensured the smooth transit of passengers, who enjoyed their journey with minimal disruptions.

 Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal Shares His Experience on Social Media

In a post shared on social mediaDr. Sanjay Jaiswal, Member of Parliament from Bettiah, shared his experience of traveling aboard the Gorakhpur-Patliputra Vande Bharat Express on its first day of operation. Dr. Jaiswal traveled from Bettiah to Muzaffarpur on this train, opting for a seat in the Executive Class (EC).

He praised the Vande Bharat Express, stating, “This train is more comfortable than the Shatabdi and Rajdhani express trains.” Dr. Jaiswal further added that during the Chawani Overbridge inauguration, he had requested Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce the Vande Bharat Express connecting GorakhpurPatna, and Bettiah.

He pointed out that the train’s fare is ₹150 lower for passengers who choose not to avail of the food services, making it a more affordable travel option compared to other modes of transport. He also mentioned that the train’s fare from West Champaran to Muzaffarpur is ₹100 more expensive than AC buses, but it saves passengers about two and a half hours of travel time.

He also emphasized that one of the primary objectives of stopping at Sugauli was to ensure that passengers from places like RamgarhwaRaxaul, and even Nepal could benefit from the Vande Bharat Express services.

The Gorakhpur-Patliputra Vande Bharat Express has transformed travel connectivity across the region, especially between GorakhpurMuzaffarpur, and Patliputra. The train significantly reduces travel time compared to other conventional trains, ensuring that passengers reach their destinations faster and more comfortably.

Additionally, the Vande Bharat Express provides direct and efficient links between major cities in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, benefiting both daily commuters and long-distance travelers. The introduction of such semi-high-speed trains helps to promote economic growth by facilitating faster travel for goods and people alike, contributing to regional development.
