In a major benefit rollout, the Madhya Pradesh government under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has successfully transferred the 26th monthly installment of financial aid under the Ladli Behna Yojana to 1.27 crore beneficiary women across the state. On July 12, a total of ₹1,543.16 crore was credited to the accounts of eligible recipients. In addition, over 30 lakh low-income households received ₹46.34 crore in LPG subsidy through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana the same day.

The government has confirmed that the 27th installment is scheduled for August, strategically timed ahead of Raksha Bandhan (August 9). This installment will include a special Rakhi bonus of ₹250 along with the ₹1,250 regular amount, bringing the total to ₹1,500 for that month. Typically credited between the 10th and 15th of each month, the August payment is expected earlier to mark the festive season and provide timely support.

Raksha Bandhan Gift and Forward Plan

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the August installment for Ladli Behnas will rise from ₹1,250 to ₹1,500, inclusive of the ₹250 Rakhi bonus. Furthermore, he emphasized continued efforts to improve women’s welfare:

  • Pakka houses will be constructed for all beneficiary women.

  • The enhanced payment of ₹1,500 per month will remain in place through Bhai Dooj.

  • The long-term trajectory aims to raise financial assistance to ₹3,000 per month in due course.

Scheme Origins & Incremental Growth

The Ladli Behna Yojana was introduced in May 2023 under the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led administration. Initially set at ₹1,000 per month, eligible married women aged 21–60 were to receive annual aid worth ₹12,000. The first installment was disbursed on June 10, 2023. Ahead of Raksha Bandhan 2023, the amount was increased to ₹1,250, raising the annual package to ₹15,000.

To date, from June 2023 to July 2025, 26 installments have been successfully transferred under the scheme. Over ₹30,000 crore has benefitted women, including two ₹250 special grants during August 2023 and August 2024.

Eligibility Criteria and Restrictions

To ensure targeted assistance, the Madhya Pradesh government has laid out specific criteria. Beneficiaries must ensure:

  1. Family income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per annum.

  2. No family member should be an income-tax payer or hold a government job (permanent, contractual, or retired).

  3. For joint families, the total land holding must remain under 5 acres.

  4. The family should not own a tractor or four-wheeler.

  5. Woman should not already be receiving ₹1,250 or more monthly from any other government scheme.

  6. The family must not include any current or former Member of Parliament (MP) or Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).

How to Check Beneficiary Status Online

Beneficiaries can verify their payment status on the official portal:

  1. Visit cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in.

  2. Click on “आवेदन एवं भुगतान की स्थिति” (Application & Payment Status).

  3. Enter registration number

  4. Submit the captcha code.

  5. Receive and enter OTP on mobile for verification.

  6. Click Search to view the current status of payment.

Scheme Impact

  • The scheme now reaches 1.27 crore married women across rural and urban areas of Madhya Pradesh.

  • Over ₹30,000 crore distributed in two years.

  • Beneficiaries will receive an extra ₹250 each August, coinciding with festivals.

  • Vision to elevate monthly aid to ₹3,000 each in upcoming years as progressively inclusive public policy.

  • Government plans also include constructing pucca homes for all beneficiaries.

Why This Scheme Matters

  • Addresses women’s financial independence and empowerment in Madhya Pradesh.

  • Helps low-income married women cope better with household expenses.

  • Seasonal bonuses during Rakhi and Bhai Dooj boost festival support and emotional bonding.

  • Aligns with Mission Ghar Nava, Madhya Pradesh, focused on providing permanent housing and financial security.

  • Reflects the current administration’s policy focus on direct benefit transfer (DBT) systems, ensuring no leakages or intermediaries.

What to Expect Next

  • August 2025: ₹1,500 transfer, including Rakhi bonus.

  • Bhai Dooj 2025: Additional ₹1,500 installment.

  • Beyond 2025: Plans underway to raise monthly aid to ₹3,000.

  • Housing: Start of construction of permanent homes for select beneficiaries.

  • Monitoring: Regular audits and surveys to track distribution and citizen satisfaction.

The Ladli Behna Yojana has emerged as a major cornerstone of women-focused social policy in Madhya Pradesh, supporting over a crore women monthly. The recent 26th installment disbursement of ₹1,543 crore, along with LPG subsidies, marks another crucial milestone in the government’s commitment.

With the 27th installment offering an August Rakhi bonus and plans to further raise aid and build permanent housing, the Madhya Pradesh administration under CM Dr. Mohan Yadav demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to women’s empowerment and poverty reduction.
