Veteran Actor Mukul Dev Passes Away at 54: Tributes Pour In from Film and Television Fraternity

KKN Gurugram Desk | The Indian entertainment industry mourns the loss of actor Mukul Dev, who passed away late on the night of May 23, 2025, at the age of 54. Known for his versatile roles in films, television, and regional cinema, Mukul was battling illness for some time and had been hospitalized prior to his death.

News of his demise has sent shockwaves across Bollywood and the television industry, with tributes pouring in from fellow actors, fans, and close friends.

 Battling Illness in Silence

Actor Vindu Dara Singh, who worked with Mukul Dev in the film Son of Sardaar, confirmed the news during an interview with India Today/Aaj Tak. Vindu revealed that Mukul had been ailing for some time, receiving treatment at a hospital. Despite medical efforts, the actor breathed his last late Friday night.

According to Vindu, Mukul had become increasingly reclusive after the demise of his parents, avoiding social interactions and staying away from public life. His health had recently deteriorated further.

 Vindu Dara Singh Remembers Mukul Dev

In an emotional tribute shared on X (formerly Twitter), Vindu Dara Singh wrote:

Rest in peace my brother #MukulDev! The time spent with you will always be cherished, and Son of Sardaar 2 will be your swansong where you will spread joy and happiness to the viewers and make them fall down laughing!”

He also shared a personal video clip with Mukul, reminiscing about the actor’s last film appearance and the joyful moments they shared on set.

 Actress Deepshikha Nagpal Expresses Shock

TV actress and longtime friend Deepshikha Nagpal shared her grief on social media with an emotional post and an old picture with Mukul. Speaking to media, she revealed:

“Mukul never talked about his health. We have a WhatsApp group of old friends, and he was always quiet. This morning, when I woke up and saw the news, I kept calling his number—hoping he’d answer.”

Her sentiments echo the sadness felt by many who worked with him over the years.

 Mukul Dev’s Career: From TV to Bollywood and Beyond

Mukul Dev was born in Delhi and began his acting journey with the TV series ‘Mumkin’ in 1996. He gained early recognition through the popular Doordarshan comedy countdown show ‘Ek Se Badhkar Ek’, which aired during the golden age of Indian television.

His Bollywood debut came the same year with Sushmita Sen starrer ‘Dastak’ (1996). Mukul quickly became a recognizable face in both mainstream and supporting roles.
