KKN Gurugram Desk | Sanjay Kapur, businessman and ex-husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away on June 12, 2025, in London at the age of 53. His funeral will be held today, June 19, at Lodhi Road cremation ground, Delhi, and a prayer meeting is scheduled for June 22 at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi.
Karisma Kapoor has flown to Delhi with children Samaira and Kiaan to attend the funeral. A condolence note going viral online also includes their names among the grieving family.
The funeral was postponed due to legal formalities related to Sanjay’s U.S. citizenship. International clearances delayed the repatriation of his remains from London to India.
The prayer meet will be held on June 22 at 4 PM at Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi. Family, friends, and business associates are expected to attend.
Sanjay died during a polo match in London. Witnesses say he accidentally swallowed a bee, leading to a severe allergic reaction and cardiac arrest.
Sanjay Kapur was a Delhi-based entrepreneur known for his ventures in fashion, real estate, and automobiles. He married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, divorced in 2016, and later married Priya Sachdev, with whom he had a son.
Despite their separation, Karisma maintained a cordial relationship with Sanjay for the sake of their children. She has stayed actively involved in their upbringing.
