KKN Gurugram Desk | Acclaimed Bollywood actor Jaideep Ahlawat, known for his intense performances in series like Paatal Lok, is now set to share the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming film ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand. While Ahlawat’s role is expected to be brief, the story behind how he landed the part is already generating buzz across Bollywood circles.
In a recent interview, Ahlawat revealed that the King of Bollywood himself — Shah Rukh Khan — personally called him to offer the role, making the opportunity even more special.
The film King, helmed by action-specialist director Siddharth Anand (known for Pathaan and War), is one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases. With Shah Rukh Khan in the lead and his daughter Suhana Khan also rumored to make her big-screen debut, expectations are sky-high.
Adding Jaideep Ahlawat to the ensemble has only fueled fan excitement. Even though the actor’s role is relatively small, its emotional weight and character depth are believed to be significant.
Speaking in an interview with Lallantop, Jaideep Ahlawat opened up about how the opportunity came to him.
“SRK sir had been thinking about it for some time, from what I’ve been told. Director Siddharth Anand was initially hesitant because it’s a small role. But Khan saab is Khan saab. He said, ‘Let me speak to him,’ and then personally called me to offer the role.”
Ahlawat added with admiration,
“When Shah Rukh Khan asks you to do something, you don’t say no.”
This isn’t Jaideep’s first interaction with Shah Rukh Khan. The two had earlier worked together in ‘Raees’, where they shared screen time for a few days.
“We’ve met five to seven times over the years,” Ahlawat said. “Starting with Raees, where we shot together for around four to five days. Every time we’ve met since, he’s made me feel like I’m one of his closest people. He’s just that kind of person.”
He continued praising SRK:
“There’s something magical about him. He carries a grace and humility that’s rare. Every time I meet him, he makes me feel valued.”
Jaideep Ahlawat was recently seen in the action-thriller film ‘Jewel Thief’, alongside Saif Ali Khan. His performance and unexpected dance sequences in the film were widely appreciated by fans and critics alike.
This marked a departure from his usual intense roles, giving audiences a glimpse of his versatility. Known more for gritty characters and hard-hitting drama, Jaideep surprised many with his charisma and screen presence in a more mainstream, commercial setup.
In an era where Bollywood is bridging the gap between OTT realism and theatrical grandeur, Jaideep’s entry into a big-budget film like King showcases the industry’s evolving dynamics. It also indicates how talent and authenticity are being recognized, even in highly commercial projects.
Shah Rukh Khan, known for handpicking actors who can bring emotional gravity to his films, choosing Jaideep directly signals a high level of respect for the actor’s craft.
While the exact release date of King has not yet been officially confirmed, industry insiders suggest the film is slated for an early 2026 theatrical release, potentially around the Republic Day weekend, a popular slot for big-budget Bollywood blockbusters.
Production is reportedly underway, and Shah Rukh Khan is believed to be heavily involved in both creative and production decisions.
Jaideep Ahlawat’s journey from indie films and OTT hits like Paatal Lok, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Raazi to sharing space with superstars like SRK and Saif Ali Khan is inspirational for many aspiring actors. His steady climb has been marked by strong performances, role diversity, and an ever-growing fanbase.
Now, his collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan in King could serve as a key turning point in his career, cementing his place not just as a character actor, but as a versatile performer who can thrive across genres.
The upcoming film King is shaping up to be more than just another star-studded action flick. With a powerhouse performer like Jaideep Ahlawat, a visionary director like Siddharth Anand, and the unmatched charm of Shah Rukh Khan, it has all the makings of a blockbuster.
And the fact that SRK himself reached out to Jaideep only strengthens the narrative that Bollywood is embracing strong, authentic talent in its most commercial spaces.
