Adivi Sesh Breaks Silence on Shruti Haasan’s Exit from ‘Dacoit’

Published by

Actor Adivi Sesh has finally addressed the swirling rumours about Shruti Haasan’s exit from their upcoming film Dacoit, putting an end to speculation about an alleged fallout between the two. In a recent podcast interview with Rajesh Manne, Sesh clarified that Shruti’s departure from the project was amicable and had more to do with scheduling and creative dynamics than any personal discord.

The revelation comes after several media outlets speculated about “creative differences” and a potential rift between Sesh and Shruti, especially following the announcement that Mrunal Thakur had replaced Shruti as the female lead in the project. Sesh has now set the record straight, emphasizing that there is “no big controversy” behind the casting change.

How It All Began: Sesh and Shruti’s Collaboration on ‘Dacoit’

Last November, actors Adivi Sesh and Shruti Haasan were seen attending a 50 Cent concert in Mumbai, which fueled speculation about their professional collaboration. The buzz was confirmed shortly after when both stars announced they were teaming up for a rustic action-drama titled Dacoit, which marked Shaneil Deo’s directorial debut.

However, things took a surprising turn earlier this year when Mrunal Thakur was brought in as Shruti’s replacement. The sudden switch led to online chatter about a behind-the-scenes rift, which until now had not been addressed officially.

Adivi Sesh Clears the Air on Shruti Haasan’s Departure

Speaking on the podcast, Sesh explained that Shruti’s exit was primarily due to differing working styles and her packed schedule, especially as she’s currently occupied with the highly anticipated film Coolie.

“It just didn’t work out. Also, too many things like working styles. And also, she’s very busy with Coolie. So it was very amicable and friendly,” Sesh said. “It takes me a lot of time to make a film. So, not everyone will sync with that process. Really, that’s the reason why. There’s no big controversy behind it.”

Sesh’s comments offer a mature and professional perspective on what had been widely assumed to be a fallout, reinforcing that not all casting changes are fuelled by drama.

Mrunal Thakur Steps In: A Seamless Transition

The entry of Mrunal Thakur into the project has already begun to generate excitement among fans. Sesh mentioned that he had admired Mrunal’s performance in the 2022 romantic period film Sita Ramam, and that her willingness to jump on board for Dacoit was both refreshing and unexpected.

“She said yes in a matter of hours, unlike other actors who take weeks,” said Sesh. “She was happy that in the announcement video, her name was mentioned first, which is rare in the industry. That speaks volumes.”

He further emphasized that Dacoit is a two-lead film, and Mrunal’s character has equal importance to his own. This progressive approach to character development is something that many fans and critics have applauded.

Inside ‘Dacoit’: Plot, Cast, and Bilingual Production

Dacoit marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Shaneil Deo, best known for his work in Wild Dog, Nishabdham, and Goodachari. The film is being simultaneously shot in Hindi and Telugu, offering broader accessibility to audiences across India.

Notably, some characters will be played by different actors in each language version, a strategy that mirrors previous pan-India productions aiming for authenticity in regional performances.

Anurag Kashyap will play a pivotal role as a cop, adding depth to the film’s gritty narrative. The project is currently under production and is slated for release on December 25, 2025, positioning it as a major year-end entertainer.

Beyond Dacoit: Adivi Sesh’s Action-Packed Line-Up

In addition to Dacoit, Adivi Sesh is gearing up for the highly anticipated sequel to his hit spy thriller Goodachari. Titled G2, the sequel promises to be bigger, bolder, and more international in scope.

Sesh shared exciting details during the podcast, including:

  • G2 will be filmed across six countries to ensure a globally authentic espionage backdrop.

  • The film will avoid greenscreen and rely on practical locations for realism.

  • The ensemble cast includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Banita Sandhu, and Emraan Hashmi, signaling a massive scale and production value.

“This will be a monstrous film,” said Sesh. “We’re not cutting corners. This is about making Indian spy thrillers truly world-class.”

In an industry where gossip often overshadows fact, it’s refreshing to see actors like Adivi Sesh handle speculation with grace and transparency. His clarification not only puts rumors to rest but also sets an example for mature conflict resolution in the film industry.

Shruti Haasan’s departure from Dacoit may have raised eyebrows initially, but as Sesh emphasized, the decision was mutual and amicable. With Mrunal Thakur stepping in and a promising ensemble in place, Dacoit continues to generate high expectations ahead of its December release.

As the Indian entertainment landscape evolves, fans can look forward to seeing more such genre-bending collaborations, bilingual narratives, and strong female leads, as seen in Dacoit.
