RRB NTPC Exam 2025: Exam Cancellations and Malpractice Cases During Initial Days

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is conducting the NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) Exam 2025 between June 5 and June 24, 2025. Over one crore candidates have applied for the examination, making it one of the largest recruitment exams in India. However, the exam’s initial days have seen a few irregularities, including cases of malpractice and exam cancellations. Here’s an in-depth analysis of the current issues surrounding the RRB NTPC Exam, including why some exams were canceled and the emergence of cheating allegations.

Exam Cancellations: What Happened in Gaya?
On June 5, 2025, a significant issue arose during the RRB NTPC examination held in Gaya, Bihar. The exam for the third shift at the Adarsh Examination Center (Venue Code: 40923) was canceled. While the exact reason behind the cancellation is still unclear, the Railway Recruitment Board has confirmed the cancellation of the exam. The candidates affected by this cancellation were informed that their original admit cards were no longer valid. This means that new admit cards will be issued for the rescheduled exam, but the RRB has yet to announce the new dates for the re-examination in Gaya.

This cancellation has raised concerns, but it is important to note that the RRB has advised candidates to keep checking the official website, rrbcdg.gov.in, or the respective RRB websites for further updates regarding new dates and admit cards.

Why Did the Gaya Exam Get Canceled?
As mentioned earlier, the exact reason for the cancellation of the third shift of the RRB NTPC exam in Gaya remains unclear. The RRB has, however, ensured that candidates are being notified about the invalidation of their previous admit cards. In the coming days, the RRB is expected to provide further updates regarding the re-conduct of the exam in the Gaya center. Candidates are urged to keep a close eye on official notifications to stay informed.

Cheating Incident in Moradabad
Another alarming incident occurred in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a visually impaired candidate was caught cheating during the RRB NTPC exam. The incident took place in the Civil Lines police station area, at the MIT Campus, where the candidate was found receiving assistance from his scribe during the examination. According to the rules of the Railway recruitment exams, a scribe is allowed to read the questions aloud but is not permitted to help the candidate answer them.

In this case, the scribe, Poornima Rani, not only read the questions but also helped the candidate, Mohammad Yameen, with the answers. This was a clear violation of the guidelines, and the venue officer, Pappu Raja, promptly reported the incident to the Civil Lines Police. A case was registered against two individuals, including the scribe and the venue officer, for their involvement in this malpractice.

The situation highlights the importance of strict adherence to examination protocols and the need for constant vigilance during these high-stakes exams. The authorities are currently taking necessary actions against those involved in the malpractice.

RRB NTPC Exam: Important Details for Candidates

  1. Exam Dates:

    • The RRB NTPC Exam is scheduled between June 5 and June 24, 2025, with different shifts for each exam day.

  5. Revised Dates for Canceled Exams:

    • Candidates whose exams were canceled due to unforeseen reasons, such as the incident in Gaya, will be provided with new exam dates and admit cards. The RRB is committed to rescheduling exams in a timely manner.

What Does This Mean for Aspirants?
With the commencement of the RRB NTPC exams, candidates are advised to be aware of the ongoing developments. The cancellation of exams and the emergence of cheating incidents have highlighted the importance of fair conduct and vigilance during such high-profile exams. Aspirants should remain updated with the latest announcements on the official RRB website and ensure that they follow the exam guidelines strictly.

What Are the Implications of These Issues?

  1. Impact on Candidates:

    • The cancellation of the exam in Gaya and the cheating incident in Moradabad may cause anxiety among the candidates. It is crucial for them to understand that the RRB is actively working to ensure fair conduct in the exams and is taking swift action against malpractices.

  2. Trust in the System:

    • Such incidents can potentially undermine the credibility of the examination process. However, the actions being taken by the RRB to address these issues reflect their commitment to maintaining transparency and fairness.

  3. Preparation for Upcoming Shifts:

    • Candidates preparing for the upcoming shifts of the RRB NTPC exam should continue their preparation as per the official guidelines. They should also ensure that they have their valid admit cards, ID proofs, and other necessary documents ready before appearing for the exam.

  4. Long-Term Effects:

    • The strict measures taken by the RRB against malpractice may deter future incidents of cheating. It also sends a clear message that any attempts to violate the exam rules will be dealt with seriously.

While the ongoing RRB NTPC exams have encountered a few hurdles, such as exam cancellations and cheating incidents, the Railway Recruitment Board is taking necessary steps to ensure the exams are conducted fairly. Candidates are encouraged to stay informed about any updates regarding new dates and exams and adhere to all official instructions.

It is essential to recognize that the RRB NTPC exams offer a significant opportunity for candidates aspiring to work with Indian Railways. Therefore, maintaining the integrity of the exam process is paramount. Candidates should avoid believing in rumors and rely only on official sources for accurate information.

Candidates are advised to stay vigilant, follow the exam guidelines, and ensure that they complete their exams without any disturbances.
