The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially released the final result for the first round of NEET UG Counselling 2025 on its official website. Candidates who have been allotted seats in the first round are required to report to their respective medical or dental colleges within the scheduled time frame along with the necessary documents and fees.
For those who missed securing a seat in the first round or wish to upgrade their allotted seat, the second round of counselling is about to begin. MCC will soon announce the registration dates and choice-filling schedule for Round 2, providing another opportunity for aspirants to claim a seat in top medical institutions.
Candidates whose names are not on the first-round allotment list still have multiple opportunities to participate in the upcoming rounds. They can apply in Round 2, Round 3, and the Stray Vacancy Round. This process ensures that deserving candidates have more than one chance to secure admission.
The following categories of candidates are eligible for participation in the second round:
Those who registered in Round 1 but did not receive a seat.
Candidates whose allotted seats were cancelled during the verification process in Round 1.
Students who joined their Round 1 seat but opted for an upgrade.
Allottees who were offered seats but chose not to join.
Candidates who resigned from their Round 1 seat within the specified deadline.
If you registered in Round 1 and fall into any of the categories mentioned above, you do not need to register again for Round 2. Fresh registration is mandatory only for those candidates who did not apply during the first round. This saves time and helps streamline the counselling process for returning participants.
The Round 2 counselling process will follow a systematic order to ensure transparency and merit-based seat allocation.
Registration (if applicable) and Fee Payment – Candidates who are new to the process will need to register on the MCC portal and pay the applicable counselling fees.
Choice Filling and Locking – Participants must select their preferred medical or dental colleges and courses, then lock their choices before the deadline.
Seat Allotment – MCC will allocate seats based on the NEET UG rank, filled preferences, and reservation guidelines.
Result Declaration – The Round 2 allotment list will be published on the MCC website for candidates to check their assigned seats.
Physical Reporting – Allottees must physically report to the allotted college with original documents and required fees to confirm their admission.
Upgrade Option – Even after joining in Round 2, candidates can opt for an upgrade in Round 3 if they wish to try for a better seat.
Candidates should be aware of specific rules to avoid losing their seat or deposit:
Failure to report after Round 2 allotment will lead to the forfeiture of the security deposit.
Once upgraded, the claim to the previous seat will be nullified.
Candidates who do not get a seat in Round 2 will automatically be eligible for Round 3 without re-registration.
Round 2 counselling is often considered a golden opportunity because several seats open up due to resignations, non-reporting, or upgradation from Round 1. Many candidates get the chance to secure admission in better colleges during this phase. Additionally, the choice-filling process in Round 2 can be more strategic, as aspirants have a clearer idea of available seats and competition trends.
With the MCC expected to release the exact schedule for Round 2 soon, NEET UG 2025 aspirants are advised to keep their documents ready, monitor the official website regularly, and make informed choices during preference filling to maximize their chances of getting their desired medical seat.
