The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has announced significant changes for the IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025, affecting the exam pattern, eligibility, and other aspects. With the release of 10,277 vacancies for the post of Clerk, the recruitment process comes with major updates that aspirants need to be aware of. These changes will impact the preparation strategies for candidates. In this article, we will discuss the key modifications and other important details for the IBPS Clerk Vacancy 2025.

Major Changes in the IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025

The IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025 brings several crucial changes, particularly in the exam pattern. These changes are set to affect how candidates prepare for the exam and approach the preparation strategy. The main areas of change include the exam pattern, the introduction of a local language test after the mains exam, and the new edit window policy for application forms. Let’s explore each of these in detail.

1. Changes in the Exam Pattern

One of the most important changes in the IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025 is the modification in the exam pattern. After the preliminary examination, the number of questions in the mains exam will be reduced. Previously, the mains exam consisted of 190 questions, but now, there will only be 155 questions. The sections of General and Financial Awareness, and Reasoning will have 40 questions instead of 50. Similarly, the Quantitative Aptitude section will now have 35 questions instead of the previous 50. Despite these reductions, the total marks for the exam will remain unchanged.

This adjustment in the exam pattern will require candidates to adapt their preparation strategies accordingly. It is essential for aspirants to focus on the new structure to improve their chances of success in the exam.

2. Introduction of the Local Language Test

Another significant change in the IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025 is the addition of a local language test after the mains examination. Candidates will be required to take this test unless they have studied the language of the state they are applying for, up to at least the 10th standard. This test will not be applicable for candidates who have already studied the local language as part of their curriculum. This marks a shift from previous recruitments, where knowing the official language of the state was given preference.

The introduction of this language test will help banks ensure that their clerks can effectively communicate with the local population, thus improving the overall customer service experience.

3. Edit Window Policy for Application Forms

The IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025 also introduces an edit window policy for the application forms. After the registration process is completed, candidates will have an opportunity to make corrections in their application forms. However, there will be an additional fee for using the edit window, and candidates will need to pay this fee if they wish to make changes to their submitted form. This change provides an opportunity for candidates to correct any mistakes or update their information before the final submission.

IBPS Clerk 2025 Important Dates and Application Process

The online application process for IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025 is currently ongoing. Candidates must complete the application process before the last date, which is 21st August 2025. The preliminary examination is scheduled to take place in October 2025, and the candidates who clear the preliminary exam will be eligible for the mains examination, which will be held in November 2025. It is important to note that the name for the Clerk post has been changed to Customer Service Associate (CSA) from the previous year, aligning with the evolving role within the banking sector.

Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit

To be eligible for the IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025, candidates must have completed their graduation from a recognized institution. The minimum age for applicants is 20 years, and the maximum age is 28 years. This means that candidates must have been born before 02.08.1997 and after 01.08.2005. There are age relaxations for candidates belonging to reserved categories. SC/ST candidates will receive a 5-year age relaxation, while OBC candidates will get a 3-year relaxation.

In addition to the educational qualifications, candidates must have a certificate, diploma, or degree in computer operations/language or should have studied computer/IT as a subject in high school, college, or university.

Salary Structure and Benefits

The salary for the IBPS Clerk (Customer Service Associate) position is quite attractive. The starting basic salary is ₹24,050 and increases incrementally. The detailed salary structure is as follows:

  • Basic Salary: ₹24,050

  • Increments: ₹1,340 for 3 years, ₹2,000 for the next 4 years

  • Maximum Salary: ₹64,480

  • The salary also includes allowances and benefits, making it a competitive package for candidates in the banking sector.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The selection process for IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025 involves two stages: the preliminary exam and the mains exam. The preliminary exam consists of 100 questions for a total of 100 marks. The time limit for this exam is 60 minutes. The questions will cover three sections:

  • English Language: 30 questions for 30 marks

  • Numerical Ability: 35 questions for 35 marks

  • Reasoning Ability: 35 questions for 35 marks

There will be negative marking in both the preliminary and mains exams, where 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The final merit list will be based solely on the marks obtained in the mains exam.

Candidates can only apply for the IBPS Clerk position in one state. However, the exam center could be in another state, depending on the availability of exam centers.

IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025 brings several important changes and updates that candidates must be aware of. With the modification in the exam pattern, the introduction of a local language test, and the edit window policy for application forms, aspirants will need to adjust their preparation strategies accordingly.

Candidates should focus on the new exam structure, particularly the changes in the number of questions and the sections covered. It is also essential to keep track of the important dates, such as the last date for application (21st August 2025) and the exam schedule.

With these changes, IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2025 promises to be a significant event for job seekers in the banking sector. Candidates must stay updated on all the latest developments and make sure they meet the eligibility criteria to have a successful career with the Indian banking sector.
