Home Guard Jawan Dies During Training in Bihar Ahead of Passing Out Parade

Published on

A Home Guard jawan died during training in Bihar on Tuesday, just days before his passing out parade. The incident occurred during routine practice at a training camp in Aurangabad district. The jawan sustained serious injuries during a physical drill and later succumbed while undergoing treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Raju Kumar, aged 25. He was a resident of Muksudpur village under Minapur police station in Muzaffarpur district. Raju Kumar was a newly appointed Home Guard jawan undergoing mandatory training as part of the 2025 batch.

Incident Occurred During Physical Training Session

According to officials, the incident took place at the Madanpur training ground during a scheduled practice session. Raju Kumar was preparing for the upcoming passing out parade. During the session, he attempted a high jump exercise as part of the physical drill.

While performing the jump, he reportedly lost balance and fell on the ground. The fall resulted in severe injuries. Fellow jawans present at the training ground immediately rushed to help him and informed senior officials.

Shifted to Hospital, Declared Dead

After the incident, Raju Kumar was taken to the Community Health Center in Madanpur for medical treatment. Doctors provided primary care, but his condition was described as critical. He was then referred to the Sadar Hospital for further treatment.

Despite medical efforts, doctors at the Sadar Hospital declared him dead. The incident caused shock among trainees and training staff at the camp.

Training Was Underway for 2025 Batch

Raju Kumar was undergoing training as part of the 2025 Home Guard batch. He had reached Madanpur for training on the night of August 28 this year. The training period was still in progress, and the passing out parade is scheduled to be held on January 8.

All newly recruited jawans were intensifying practice ahead of the ceremony. Physical drills and parade rehearsals were part of daily training activities. The incident occurred during one such routine session.

Family Informed, Village in Mourning

Raju Kumar was the middle son of Ram Nihora Singh. His family lives in Mauksudpur village. Relatives said the family had been eagerly waiting for his passing out parade. His selection as a Home Guard had brought pride to the household.

Following the incident, family members were informed by authorities. The news led to mourning in the village, with locals visiting the family to offer condolences.

Hundreds of Jawans Training at Madanpur Camp

At present, training is being conducted at the Madanpur CRPF camp, where 244 Home Guard jawans are enrolled. Of these, 176 jawans are from Muzaffarpur district, while 68 are from Sitamarhi district.

Training intensity has increased as the parade date approaches. After the incident, the atmosphere at the camp turned somber, though training activities resumed later.

Officials Confirm Incident

Home Guard Divisional Commandant Amir Israr confirmed the death. He stated that the jawan died during routine training practice. He added that the family had been informed and all necessary formalities were being completed.

Officials expressed condolences to the bereaved family. No official statement regarding compensation was made at the time of reporting.

Safety Concerns Raised After Incident

The death has raised concerns regarding safety measures during physical training. High jump and other physical drills are mandatory components of Home Guard training. However, such exercises involve physical risk.

Officials have not announced any immediate changes to training procedures. An internal review of safety arrangements may be carried out to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Training Continues Amid Grief

Despite the tragedy, preparations for the January 8 passing out parade continue at the camp. Jawans have resumed training, though the loss of a fellow recruit has left a visible impact.

The incident highlights the physical challenges faced by recruits during training. Authorities are expected to review safety protocols while ensuring support for the grieving family.
