Delhi University (DU) has officially released the first merit list for its five-year law programs, including BA LLB (Honours) and BBA LLB (Honours). The cut-off list was made available on the CSAS UG portal on July 16, 2025. This year, both of these law courses have received a large number of applications, but the available seats remain limited to 60 for each program. As a result, the cut-off scores for admission have been higher than in previous years.

DU Law Admission 2025: What You Need to Know

The DU Law 2025 admission process is based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) scores. Students who have successfully cleared the CLAT 2025 exam and meet the cut-off requirements listed in the merit list will now be invited to participate in the counseling and document verification process.

Candidates can view the category-wise cut-off scores for both BA LLB (Honours) and BBA LLB (Honours) on the official CSAS UG portal of Delhi University. It is crucial for students to keep track of the updates and prepare all the necessary documents to complete the process on time.

Cut-Off for BA LLB (Honours)

The cut-off scores for BA LLB (Honours) for the year 2025 are as follows:

  • General (UR): 88.50

  • OBC: 79.75

  • SC: 72.75

  • ST: 63.00

  • EWS: 81.50

  • PWD (Persons with Disabilities): 70.75

These cut-offs indicate the minimum scores required for students to be eligible for admission in the respective categories. Students who meet these criteria will be considered for the next steps in the counseling process.

Cut-Off for BBA LLB (Honours)

For the BBA LLB (Honours) course, the cut-off scores for 2025 are as follows:

  • General (UR): 87

  • OBC: 78.25

  • SC: 69.25

  • ST: 59

  • EWS: 81.25

  • PWD: 59

Similar to BA LLB, these cut-off scores represent the minimum qualifying marks for students from various categories to be eligible for the counseling process.

What Happens After the Cut-Off List?

After the release of the first merit list and the announcement of the cut-off scores, the next step in the DU law admission process is the counseling and document verification stage.

Students who meet the cut-off requirements and are allotted a seat will be required to confirm their acceptance of the seat and complete all necessary formalities. They will then wait for further instructions regarding final confirmation and orientation related to the course.

If a student is unable to secure a seat in the first round or if they wish to opt for better options, they may participate in the subsequent counseling rounds.

If a student refuses or withdraws from an allotted seat, that seat will be made available to other eligible candidates in the next round of counseling.

How to Proceed with DU Law Admission?

Here are the next steps for candidates:

  1. Check the Merit List: Visit the CSAS UG portal to see if you meet the required cut-off for BA LLB or BBA LLB.

  2. Seat Confirmation: If your seat has been allotted, accept the seat and complete the formalities.

  3. Document Verification: Prepare all required documents for verification and submit them as part of the admission process.

  4. Next Counseling Rounds: For those who were not allotted a seat in the first round, or wish to opt for a better choice, they can wait for the subsequent rounds of counseling.

Important Instructions for Students

  • Stay Updated: Keep checking the CSAS UG portal regularly for updates regarding the counseling process, seat allocation, and document verification requirements.

  • Document Preparation: Make sure to have all the required documents ready for verification, as this is an essential part of the admission process.

  • Understand Seat Withdrawal Policies: Be aware that if you decline the seat offered to you in the first round, you will be considered for subsequent rounds, but the seat may be offered to another candidate in the meantime.

  • Timing is Key: Make sure to follow all deadlines strictly to ensure a smooth admission process.

DU Law Admission 2025 – Final Thoughts

The DU Law admission process for the year 2025 has commenced with the release of the first merit list for BA LLB (Honours) and BBA LLB (Honours) courses. With a high number of applicants and limited seats, the cut-off scores are quite competitive.

It is essential for students to track all updates, confirm their seats, and complete the required steps to finalize their admission. The CSAS UG portal will serve as the primary point of contact for all students, where they can get detailed information on their cut-off scores, further counseling rounds, and document submission guidelines.

For those who have not been allotted a seat in the first round, there is still a chance to secure a seat in the upcoming rounds of counseling. However, candidates must act quickly and follow all the steps laid out by the university to ensure a smooth transition into the next phase of their academic journey.

In conclusion, DU Law’s 2025 admission process promises to be an exciting and competitive time for aspiring law students. With timely preparation and close attention to the cut-off lists and counseling procedures, students can navigate through the process and secure a place in these prestigious law programs.
