The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to commence the Class 10 and Class 12 supplementary exams 2025 from Tuesday, July 15. These compartment exams provide a second chance for students who were unable to clear one or more subjects in the main board exams. While Class 12 supplementary exams will be conducted in a single day (July 15), the Class 10 exams will continue till July 22, 2025.

CBSE has already uploaded the admit cards and distributed exam materials across examination centers. Students are advised to strictly adhere to the issued guidelines to ensure smooth conduct of the exams.

CBSE Supplementary Exam 2025 Schedule at a Glance

  • Class 10 Exams: From July 15 to July 22, 2025

  • Class 12 Exams: Only on July 15, 2025 (Single-day for all subjects)

  • Timings:

    • Standard exams: 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM

    • Short-duration exams: 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

The compartment exams are specifically designed for students who received a “compartment” in one or two subjects in the main board results. The opportunity helps students continue their academic progress without losing an entire year.

Who Can Appear for CBSE Compartment Exams 2025?

These exams are meant for students of both Class 10 and 12 who:

  • Failed in one or more subjects in the CBSE Board Results 2025, declared on May 13.

  • Wish to improve their results and avoid wasting a year.

  • Have applied for the supplementary exam through their schools or the official CBSE website.

Subjects & First-Day Exam Details

On Day 1 (July 15) of the Class 10 supplementary exams, students will appear for practical subjects such as:

  • Information Technology (IT)

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The Class 12 exam will cover only those subjects in which students received compartment status. Unlike Class 10, the Class 12 supplementary exam will be conducted only for one day and will conclude on July 15 itself.

CBSE Supplementary Exam 2025 Guidelines for Students

CBSE has laid out strict rules and regulations to maintain integrity and discipline during the exams:

  1. No Electronic Devices Allowed:

    • Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, and any other communication gadgets are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.

  2. Unfair Means (UFM) Will Invite Strict Action:

    • Any student caught indulging in unfair practices will face disciplinary actions, including disqualification.

  3. Reporting Time:

    • Students must report to their exam centers at least 30 minutes before the exam begins.

  4. Admit Card Is Mandatory:

    • Students must carry their admit card and a valid photo ID to the examination center.

  5. Reading Time:

    • A 15-minute reading period will be allowed before attempting the paper. This is to help students understand and plan their answers calmly.

Important Instructions for Class 10 and Class 12 Students

    • Complete exam schedule

    • Subject-wise dates and timings

    • Admit card download

  • Reach the exam center early to avoid last-minute rush.

  • Wear proper school uniform (if applicable) and maintain decorum.

  4. Download the official PDF schedule and guidelines.

  5. Download admit card using your school code, roll number, or unique ID.

Why Supplementary Exams Matter

The supplementary or compartment exams are not just a second attempt; they are an essential academic bridge for students. Here’s why:

  • Prevents loss of academic year

  • Allows timely admission to the next academic session

  • Reduces stress and pressure on students

  • Boosts academic morale by providing another chance to succeed

This also reflects CBSE’s student-friendly approach, ensuring no learner is left behind due to marginal failures.

Tips for Last-Minute Preparation

  1. Revise important topics from previous board papers and NCERT books.

  2. Focus on subject-wise weak areas.

  3. Take mock tests under timed conditions.

  4. Practice sample questions from the CBSE website.

  5. Eat well, stay hydrated, and avoid over-stressing.

The CBSE Supplementary Exams 2025 are a golden opportunity for students to recover lost ground and move forward academically. With proper discipline, preparation, and awareness of the rules, students can confidently ace these exams and continue their education without delay.
