Bihar SHS Laboratory Technician Recruitment 2025

The State Health Society (SHS), Government of Bihar, has announced the recruitment process for Laboratory Technician and Senior Laboratory Technician posts. The official notification has been released, and the online application process has already begun. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 1068 vacancies across Bihar.

Candidates interested in these positions must apply online through the official website shs.bihar.gov.in. The deadline for submitting applications is 15 September 2025, 6 PM.

Vacancy Details

According to the notification, the total vacancies are divided between Laboratory Technician and Senior Laboratory Technician positions. Eligible candidates who fulfill the academic, age, and other criteria can apply for these posts within the given timeline.

Educational Qualifications

For Senior Laboratory Technician, candidates must possess an M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology, Applied Microbiology, General Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry, with or without DMLT. In addition, they must have at least two years of work experience in TB laboratory testing related to Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, including genotypic tests such as Nucleic Acid Amplification Test and Line Probe Assay, or phenotypic tests like Culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing.

Alternatively, candidates with a B.Sc. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Life Science, Botany, or Zoology along with DMLT are eligible, provided they have three years of work experience in TB lab testing with genotypic or phenotypic methods.

For Laboratory Technician, candidates must have passed Intermediate/10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, along with a Bachelor’s degree (BMLT) or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) from a recognized university or institute.

Age Criteria

The minimum age required for applicants is 21 years. Age will be calculated as of 1 April 2025. The maximum age limit varies across categories:

  • Unreserved/EWS (Male): 37 years

  • Backward Class/Extremely Backward Class (Male and Female): 40 years

  • Unreserved/EWS (Female): 40 years

  • Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Male and Female): 42 years

This relaxation in age ensures opportunities for candidates from different backgrounds, aligning with state government policies.

Application Fee

Applicants must pay the required fee depending on their category:

  • General, Backward Class, Extremely Backward Class, and EWS: ₹500

  • SC/ST candidates who are permanent residents of Bihar: ₹125

  • Reserved and Unreserved women candidates (permanent residents of Bihar): ₹125

  • Candidates from outside Bihar, irrespective of category or gender: ₹500

  • Persons with Disabilities (40% or more): ₹125

The fee payment can be made online through available modes on the recruitment portal.

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected based on their academic qualifications, professional experience, and other criteria as outlined in the official notification. Detailed information regarding the selection procedure, including written tests or interviews, will be made available on the SHS Bihar website.
