300 Women Police Barracks to be Built in Buxar Police Line

The Bihar government has announced a major housing project for women police personnel in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary confirmed that approval has been granted for the construction of 300 women police barracks in Buxar district. The new facility will be a G+3 structure equipped with modern furniture and essential infrastructure.

According to the Deputy CM, the construction will cost ₹16.86 crore. The expenditure will be covered under the budgetary provisions of the financial year 2025-26. This development marks a significant step toward strengthening police infrastructure and addressing the housing needs of women personnel in Bihar Police.

Strengthening Police Infrastructure for Women Personnel

Samrat Choudhary emphasized that the state government is committed to modernizing the police force. With the increasing number of women joining the service, the government has prioritized better residential and infrastructural facilities.

The barrack project at Buxar Police Line is seen as an important milestone. It not only provides a safe and secure residential facility for women police officers but also ensures that they have proper amenities to support their demanding duties.

The Deputy CM highlighted that under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership, the NDA government has consistently worked on empowering the police force. According to him, the focus is on creating a strong, effective, and modern security system for Bihar.

Evolution of Bihar Police in the Last Two Decades

Samrat Choudhary pointed out that Bihar Police has undergone remarkable transformation in the last 20 years. In 2005, the total strength of the police force stood at around 42,000. Today, the number has risen to more than 1.25 lakh.

This increase has been achieved through continuous recruitment and systematic training. The expansion reflects the government’s commitment to building a stronger law and order framework in the state.

The Deputy CM also noted that the government has been sensitive to the growing participation of women in police services. This has created the need for dedicated facilities that ensure comfort, security, and inclusivity.

Recent Recruitment Initiatives in Bihar Police

The Deputy CM further mentioned that the government has recently undertaken several large-scale recruitment drives. A total of 4,361 driver constables have been recruited in the latest phase. Earlier, appointment letters were issued to 21,391 constables.

These recruitments reflect the broader policy of expanding the police force and filling critical vacancies. They also underline the state’s focus on providing employment opportunities while boosting law enforcement capacity.

The recruitment drives are expected to reduce workload on existing personnel and improve the overall efficiency of policing in Bihar.

Dedicated Training Schools for Police Constables

The Bihar government has also approved land transfer for a police training school at Katoria in Banka district. This facility will provide structured training to new constables, preparing them to handle complex law and order challenges.

According to Samrat Choudhary, the decision to establish specialized training centers is aligned with the government’s vision of creating a disciplined and capable police force. Alongside training facilities, housing and welfare measures like the new women police barracks in Buxar are part of the broader modernization plan.

Women in Bihar Police: Growing Role and Challenges

The number of women joining Bihar Police has seen consistent growth in recent years. This change reflects the state’s policy of encouraging women in frontline services. However, the increase has also created new challenges related to accommodation, safety, and welfare.

The construction of 300 barracks in Buxar is a direct response to these challenges. The facility will provide secure housing and reduce the dependence of women personnel on rented or temporary arrangements. It will also help them stay closer to their duty stations, ensuring better availability for official tasks.

Government’s Vision for Police Modernization

The Deputy CM reiterated that the state government is committed to making the Bihar Police force modern and efficient. Infrastructure development, recruitment expansion, and advanced training are the three pillars of this vision.

He stressed that the government’s long-term plan includes expanding barrack facilities across multiple districts, not just in Buxar. The model of G+3 structures will be replicated wherever the need arises, ensuring consistency in design and facilities.

Samrat Choudhary said that the government’s ultimate goal is to create a police force that can meet the evolving security needs of Bihar while also ensuring the welfare of its personnel.

Historical Comparison of Bihar Police Reforms

The Deputy CM drew attention to the contrast between the state of police services in 2005 and today. At that time, limited recruitment, inadequate housing, and poor infrastructure created major challenges. Over the last two decades, systematic reforms have addressed many of these shortcomings.

He highlighted that today’s Bihar Police is better trained, better equipped, and larger in size. These changes have directly contributed to improving the law and order situation in the state.

The construction of women police barracks in Buxar is another example of how the government is continuing to build on this legacy of reform.

Financial Commitment for Development

The project cost of ₹16.86 crore reflects the scale of the government’s commitment. The budgetary allocation under the financial year 2025-26 is designed to ensure timely completion without financial constraints.

Such investments are essential for sustainable growth of the police force. By prioritizing infrastructure projects, the state is ensuring that personnel have a strong support system that allows them to perform their duties effectively.

Political Leadership and Police Development

Samrat Choudhary underlined that under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, Bihar has made measurable progress in policing. The NDA government has adopted a proactive approach, combining recruitment with infrastructure development.

He said that the government is aware of the sacrifices made by police personnel and is determined to improve their living conditions. The construction of the new women barracks in Buxar is one such initiative that demonstrates this commitment.

Looking Ahead: Future of Bihar Police

The establishment of new barracks in Buxar is just the beginning of a larger effort. With more women expected to join the police force in coming years, similar projects are likely across other districts.

The government’s focus on both training and accommodation shows that the welfare of police personnel is now a policy priority. The initiative is expected to boost morale, improve efficiency, and encourage more women to choose policing as a career.

As Bihar moves forward, modernization of the police force will remain central to ensuring safety, security, and development in the state.

The announcement of 300 women police barracks in Buxar is a landmark step in Bihar’s policing reforms. With a budget of over ₹16 crore, the project highlights the state’s dedication to modernizing its police force while addressing the specific needs of women personnel.

From increased recruitment to specialized training schools and infrastructure upgrades, Bihar Police is witnessing one of its most comprehensive reform phases. Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the government continues to emphasize both security and welfare.

For thousands of women serving in the police, the Buxar barracks project represents more than just a housing facility—it stands as a symbol of recognition, empowerment, and progress.
