Youth Shot Dead in Nalanda’s Chuharchak Village, Police Begin Probe

Nalanda district witnessed yet another shocking crime when miscreants shot dead a young man late at night. The incident took place at Chuharchak village turn, located on State Highway 78 under Sarmera police station limits. According to initial information, the victim was identified as 18-year-old Shishupal Kumar, also known as Karu, the son of Brij Yadav, a resident of Chuharchak village.

Local sources revealed that the murder appears to be linked with old enmity and personal rivalry. Residents recalled that on the night of 12 and 13 July, another gruesome killing had taken place in the same village. At that time, a man named Kishori Yadav was brutally murdered. In that particular case, the name of Shishupal had surfaced during the investigation. Villagers suspect that the latest killing could be an act of revenge for that earlier crime. The assailants reportedly took advantage of an opportunity, fired at Shishupal, and escaped immediately after the attack.

As soon as the incident was reported, Sarmera police reached the spot and took possession of the body. The body was then sent to Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Officials confirmed that the investigation is now underway. Station House Officer of Sarmera, Sakendra Kumar Bind, stated that a youth was shot dead near Chuharchak turn. He added that while the motive behind the murder is still unclear, police are investigating every possible angle and efforts to identify and arrest the criminals have been intensified.

Old Rivalry Suspected Behind Nalanda Murder

The murder has caused a wave of tension in the region. Villagers insist that it is the outcome of long-standing hostility between two groups. They also believe that the previous killing of Kishori Yadav had created a deep divide within the community. The fresh incident has only worsened the fragile peace in Chuharchak. According to people familiar with the matter, Shishupal was already facing suspicion after the earlier murder, and it is possible that his rivals targeted him to settle scores.

Police sources, however, remain cautious about jumping to conclusions. The investigating team is trying to collect all possible evidence, including eyewitness statements and forensic reports, before confirming the motive. Senior officers have instructed the local police to ensure that no further escalation takes place in the area. For this reason, security has been tightened, and police camps have been set up in the village as a precautionary measure.

The latest killing has once again raised serious concerns about law and order in Nalanda district. The fact that the incident occurred on a busy state highway has shocked residents, who fear that criminals are becoming bolder with each passing day. Locals claim that despite several assurances from the administration, crime incidents have not reduced in the region. They point out that violent clashes, revenge killings, and gang rivalries have become common in certain parts of the district.

Family members of the deceased are in deep shock. They have demanded strict action and immediate arrest of the culprits. According to them, Shishupal was targeted deliberately, and the killing was carried out with planning. They believe that unless swift action is taken, such incidents will continue to disturb peace and harmony in the area.

Police Investigation and Next Steps

Police officials have begun detailed investigations into the case. Teams are scanning the crime scene, questioning nearby residents, and checking whether CCTV cameras installed on the highway captured any suspicious movements. Investigators are also looking into past records of rivalry between the families involved. A special team has been formed to trace the suspects. Officers assure that the culprits will be arrested soon and brought to justice.

The SHO confirmed that the case is being treated as a priority matter due to its sensitive nature. Senior police officials from Bihar Sharif have also been briefed about the progress. Security in the village will remain tight until the situation normalizes. Officials are also in touch with the families of both victims to prevent any further flare-ups.

Impact on Local Community

The repeated incidents of violence have left the local community living in fear. Many residents say they are hesitant to move around at night. Shops and businesses near the Chuharchak turn are closing earlier than usual, fearing another outbreak of violence. Social tensions are running high, and villagers are urging authorities to intervene strongly before the situation spirals out of control.

The murder of an 18-year-old has deeply disturbed the youth of the area. Many students and youngsters claim that the environment has become unsafe for them. Parents are worried about sending their children to tuition or coaching classes after dark. The community is demanding not just arrests but also long-term measures to improve law and order.

The killing of Shishupal Kumar in Nalanda’s Chuharchak village is a grim reminder of how personal rivalry and old enmity can fuel deadly violence. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and tension in the region. While the police have launched an intensive investigation and deployed additional forces to prevent further unrest, the community remains anxious.
