Tejashwi Yadav Sparks Controversy Over Remarks on PM Modi’s Bihar Visit

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | A fresh political storm has erupted in Bihar following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Siwan. The PM addressed a public rally on Friday as part of his pre-election outreach. However, it was the post-event press briefing by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav that ignited a heated war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RJD.

During a fiery press conference held at the RJD state headquarters in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on both PM Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. His comments, laced with controversial undertones, have triggered strong reactions from BJP leaders, deepening the political divide ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.

“PM Modi’s Visit Cost Bihar ₹100 Crore,” Claims Tejashwi

Tejashwi Yadav began his statement by criticizing the alleged expenditure surrounding the PM’s rally in Siwan. “Every time Prime Minister Modi visits Bihar, it costs the state approximately ₹100 crore. Is this a government function or a political campaign? The people of Bihar have a right to know how much from their pockets is being spent,” he said.

He further demanded transparency from the Prime Minister regarding the expenditure on political rallies. “Modi Ji should openly declare the expenses his political events incur and how much burden is being put on the people of Bihar,” the RJD leader asserted.

Yadav also took a dig at CM Nitish Kumar, accusing him of skipping critical situations in the state but attending political platforms enthusiastically. “Nitish Kumar doesn’t visit the families of martyrs or victims of major incidents, but he shows up on PM’s political stages,” he alleged.

“We Don’t Want a PM Who Empties People’s Pockets”

In what is being perceived as a highly provocative remark, Tejashwi Yadav said, “The people of Bihar don’t need a Prime Minister who only empties their pockets. We also don’t need an unconscious Chief Minister. The people of Bihar will respond to both PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar in the upcoming elections.”

He further added that the BJP, despite being the richest political party in the world, forces the poorest state in India to bear the cost of their election rallies. “They can’t provide toilets, jobs, or even salaries. Yet, they burden the state treasury for political shows,” he claimed.

“PM Hasn’t Delivered; RJD Has”

Shifting focus to development, Tejashwi accused the BJP-led central government of failing Bihar. “In the last 11 years, Modi Ji couldn’t restart a single sugar mill in Bihar. But in just 17 months, I managed to revive the Riga Sugar Mill,” he pointed out.

He also accused the PM of not speaking about real development during his rally. “Instead of offering solutions, all we got was a downpour of lies and hollow slogans. He even resorted to personal attacks on me and my family,” Tejashwi said.

“Bihar Will Be Run by Biharis”

In a strong message aimed at the central leadership, the RJD leader said, “Bihar will be run by Biharis. Outsiders can’t dictate terms to us. Bihar has always led the country. It is not a state to be toyed with.”

When asked about allegations made by the PM regarding his father Lalu Yadav’s comments on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Tejashwi responded, “Lalu Ji never disrespected Babasaheb. When Ambedkar’s legacy was insulted in Parliament, where was the Prime Minister? Why doesn’t he comment on the misconduct of his dear Home Minister?”

BJP and JD(U) Hit Back: “Tejashwi Needs Mental Help”

Tejashwi Yadav’s remarks sparked immediate outrage within the NDA camp. BJP leader Prem Ranjan Patel condemned the language used by the opposition leader, labeling it “unconstitutional and derogatory.” He added, “Tejashwi’s mental state appears unstable. His dream of becoming the Chief Minister is collapsing, which is why he’s resorting to abusive language. He needs psychological treatment, and if he can’t arrange it, we will help.”

Patel didn’t stop there. He accused Tejashwi of being an “economic offender,” citing old corruption cases involving land transactions in Lalu Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister.

Meanwhile, JD(U) spokesperson Abhishek Jha said, “Tejashwi Yadav’s statements reflect his upbringing and political culture. He has shown his real character.”

RJD Defends Its Leader

On the other hand, RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari jumped to Tejashwi’s defense. “Tejashwi has rightly raised questions about public spending and the PM’s priorities. The BJP is nervous and hence resorting to personal attacks instead of answering the real issues,” he said.

Tiwari added that the Prime Minister must be held accountable for his lack of action on Bihar’s key issues such as employment, industrial development, and education. “The BJP is failing Bihar. All they can offer are slogans and theatrics,” he concluded.

With just months to go for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, this latest exchange between Tejashwi Yadav and BJP leaders has intensified the political battleground. Both parties are now expected to sharpen their narratives in the coming days, with RJD targeting governance failures and BJP banking on development promises and national leadership.

Whether Tejashwi’s aggressive posture will resonate with the youth and unemployed or backfire due to perceived indecency remains to be seen. One thing is certain: Bihar’s political discourse is heating up — and voters are watching closely.
