The arrival of the active monsoon system has led to heavy rainfall in Patna and 14 other districts across Bihar, offering much-needed relief from the oppressive humidity. The Meteorological Department has forecasted light rainfall in some areas and heavy showers in West Champaran, Gopalganj, and Siwan over the next 24 hours. Additionally, the onset of a rain system is expected to significantly impact the state from July 20.

Heavy Rains and Temperature Relief

With the intensification of the monsoon, Patna and its neighboring districts saw downpours on Thursday. The daytime was marked by some sunshine and intermittent clouds, maintaining the humidity levels. However, by late afternoon, clouds gathered, and intense rainfall followed with strong winds, giving residents a break from the sticky heat.

The dense clouds created an almost nighttime atmosphere in the evening, providing temporary relief from the oppressive heat. According to the Patna Meteorological Center, the weather in the coming 24 hours will feature partly cloudy skies with sporadic rainfall. However, the districts of West Champaran, Gopalganj, and Siwan are likely to witness heavier rainfall.

In addition to the rain, the department has issued warnings for thunderstorms and lightning in the northern-central parts of Bihar. Winds could gust at speeds ranging from 30-40 km/h in these areas, leading to a further drop in temperatures.

Low-Pressure System Impacting Bihar

The low-pressure system currently forming over the southeastern parts of Uttar Pradesh and southwestern Bihar is likely to shift northwestward. This will bring significant rainfall in the state after two days. The weather department predicts the system will become more active and trigger substantial rainfall across Bihar starting July 20. The state can expect a spell of good rainfall between July 20 and 23.

In the past 24 hours, several regions in Bihar have recorded rainfall. The highest rainfall was recorded in Bhagwanpur, Bhabua, where 160.4 mm of rain was measured. Patna registered a maximum temperature of 33.9°C, while Bikramganj in Rohtas recorded the highest temperature of 35.2°C.

Weather Forecast for the Next Few Days

With the monsoon system gaining strength, Bihar is expected to receive more rain over the next several days. The rains are likely to bring relief to the residents by cooling down the temperature, but they could also lead to localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas. As per the weather forecasts, there will be occasional showers, but the intensity of rainfall is expected to increase significantly from July 20.

The coming days might see more scattered rainfall across various parts of Bihar, especially in the eastern and southern regions. Thunderstorms could also be a concern, with lightning strikes and gusty winds expected in some areas.

Bihar’s ongoing monsoon season has provided significant rainfall to various districts, including Patna. The weather department’s forecasts predict more rainfall in the coming days, with areas like West Champaran, Gopalganj, and Siwan receiving heavy showers. The active low-pressure system over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is expected to bring further rainfall starting July 20, offering a much-needed break from the heat and humidity.

Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather reports and take precautions against potential storms and heavy rainfall. With rain forecasted for several days, the monsoon’s intensity in Bihar is sure to continue making headlines.
