KKN Gurugram Desk | Bihar is set to experience a weather change in the next 48 hours due to rain and thunderstorms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for multiple districts in the state. The impact of the Western Disturbance, which caused rainfall in Delhi-NCR, is now expected to be visible in Bihar.

Yellow Alert Issued for Multiple Districts

According to the Meteorological Center in Patna, a yellow alert has been issued for West Champaran, Jamui, and Banka on February 21. On February 22 and 23, the alert has been extended to 14 districts, including:

  • Supaul
  • Araria
  • Kishanganj
  • Saharsa
  • Madhepura
  • Purnia
  • Khagaria
  • Katihar
  • Munger
  • Bhagalpur
  • Jamui
  • Banka
  • Nawada
  • Gaya

These districts are likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning (Vajrapat), and rainfall during this period.

Temperature Variations in Different Regions of Bihar

The recent weather changes in Bihar have led to variations in maximum temperatures across different regions. While some districts witnessed a rise in temperature, others recorded a drop in maximum temperatures.

Districts with Increased Maximum Temperature

The following districts reported a rise in temperature:

  • Gopalganj
  • Motihari
  • Sitamarhi
  • Siwan
  • Chhapra
  • Vaishali
  • Buxar
  • Bhojpur
  • Patna
  • Arwal
  • Rohtas
  • Gaya
  • Jamui
  • Banka
  • Bhagalpur
  • Katihar
  • Purnia
  • Kishanganj

These areas have been experiencing warmer days due to the absence of rainfall.

Districts with Decreased Maximum Temperature

On the other hand, several districts recorded a drop in temperature:

  • Valmiki Nagar
  • Muzaffarpur
  • Madhubani
  • Darbhanga
  • Supaul
  • Madhepura
  • Pusa
  • Aghwanpur
  • Begusarai
  • Khagaria
  • Nalanda
  • Sheikhpura
  • Munger
  • Sasaram
  • Aurangabad

The decline in temperature in these areas is attributed to increased cloud cover and the approaching weather system.

Impact of Western Disturbance on Bihar Weather

The Western Disturbance is responsible for the changing weather conditions across North India, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Over the past few days, Delhi-NCR witnessed moderate rainfall, which is now shifting towards Bihar and neighboring states.

Meteorologists suggest that this disturbance will bring cloudy skies, increased humidity, and chances of thunderstorms in Bihar over the next few days. Farmers and local residents have been advised to stay alert as thunderstorms and lightning strikes (Vajrapat) could be dangerous.

How Will the Weather Change in Bihar?

The IMD forecast suggests that Bihar will experience:

  • Scattered rainfall in multiple districts
  • Thunderstorms with lightning strikes
  • Increase in humidity levels
  • Possible disruption in daily activities due to strong winds and heavy showers

Due to these weather changes, people are advised to avoid open spaces during thunderstorms and stay indoors during heavy rainfall.

As per weather experts, people should take necessary precautions, including:

  • Avoid standing under trees or open areas during thunderstorms.
  • Keep electronic devices unplugged to avoid short circuits during lightning.
  • Farmers should take necessary precautions to protect crops from heavy rain.
  • Stay updated with the latest Bihar weather news to plan travel accordingly.

The government has also instructed district administrations to be on alert to handle any weather-related emergencies.

Bihar is set to witness significant weather changes in the next 48 hours, with rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes predicted in multiple districts. The yellow alert issued by IMD indicates the need for caution and preparedness.
