Bihar Weather Update: Heavy Rain Alert in 19 Districts, Monsoon to Revive Again

Published on

The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert for 19 districts in Bihar today.
According to the forecast, thunderclouds are expected along with strong winds of 30 to 40 kmph.
In the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall was recorded in Munger and Rajgir, creating waterlogging in several areas.

The warning has been issued for Buxar, Bhojpur, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal, Gaya, Jehanabad, Patna, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Jamui, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Munger, Banka, Bhagalpur, and Khagaria.
The authorities have advised residents to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel.

Monsoon Expected to Revive from 11 September

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that the monsoon will remain weak till 10 September.
From 11 September onwards, the system is expected to revive and become active again.
During this period, heavy rainfall is likely across different districts of Bihar.

The revival of the monsoon will increase rainfall activity between 11 September and 18 September.
Experts have suggested that overall rainfall in September may remain above the seasonal average.
With changing conditions, people have been asked to remain cautious and follow safety advisories.

Reasons Behind the Active Monsoon Phase

The weather office has explained the reasons behind the upcoming active monsoon in Bihar.
The merging of the monsoon system with western disturbances has created instability in the atmosphere.
Moist winds from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea are continuously reaching Bihar.

South and southeast winds have carried enough moisture, increasing chances of widespread rainfall.
In addition, the monsoon trough line has shifted closer to Bihar, enhancing weather activity.
This combination of factors is expected to bring heavy showers in several districts.

Rainfall Impact in Patna and Surrounding Areas

In the state capital Patna, humid conditions have troubled residents over the past few days.
People are experiencing discomfort due to sultry weather and irregular rainfall.
This morning, several areas of Patna witnessed cloudy skies with light drizzle.

The weather department has predicted that the mood of the sky will change soon.
Heavy rainfall in the coming hours may bring relief from the persistent humidity.
Both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to drop due to the showers.

Challenges Due to Heavy Rain in Bihar

Continuous rainfall may cause waterlogging in several towns and cities of Bihar.
Districts like Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Munger, and Banka often face severe flooding during heavy showers.
Agricultural fields may also be impacted, as excess waterlogging can damage standing crops.

In Patna, drainage systems are already under pressure due to intermittent rains.
The administration has deployed teams to clear blocked drains and monitor low-lying areas.
Residents are being advised to remain indoors during thunderstorms and avoid waterlogged streets.

Farmers Await Relief from the Rain

Farmers in central and southern Bihar have been waiting for adequate rainfall.
The earlier weak phase of the monsoon created delays in sowing and cultivation activities.
With the expected revival from 11 September, farmers hope for better irrigation conditions.

Rain-fed crops like paddy, maize, and pulses require consistent moisture during this season.
According to agricultural experts, the upcoming rainfall may benefit crops across several districts.
However, excess rainfall could also cause crop damage, making balanced showers essential for productivity.

Government and Administration on Alert

Local administrations in the 19 districts are on high alert due to the warning.
Disaster management teams have been asked to remain prepared for any emergency situations.
Schools in low-lying flood-prone areas may remain closed if conditions worsen.

In past years, heavy monsoon rains have led to severe flooding in Bihar.
The state government has assured that measures are being taken to handle waterlogging.
Rescue teams and helpline services will remain active during this critical weather period.

Previous Rainfall in Munger and Rajgir

The last 24 hours brought significant rainfall in Munger and Rajgir.
Heavy downpours disrupted normal life, causing traffic jams and water accumulation in streets.
In Rajgir, the famous tourist town, rainwater entered several shops and households.

In Munger, low-lying areas near the Ganga experienced flooding due to intense rainfall.
The administration has warned of more rainfall in these areas over the next few days.
Citizens have been urged to remain cautious and keep emergency supplies ready.

Meteorologists Predict Above-Normal September Rainfall

Experts believe September will bring above-normal rainfall to Bihar.
This projection is based on the active monsoon circulation and moisture inflow.
Bihar has already experienced deficit rainfall during the early months of the season.

The upcoming spell may help balance the rainfall levels across the state.
According to weather scientists, global factors like El Niño may also influence patterns.
Despite uncertainties, the current trend indicates strong monsoon activity this month.

Patna Weather Outlook for the Coming Week

The coming week in Patna is expected to witness frequent rain and cloudy skies.
Meteorologists have predicted that temperatures will range between 25°C and 32°C.
Rainfall will likely bring relief from the heat but may disrupt daily routines.

Residents of Patna should prepare for traffic congestion and waterlogging in major areas.
Areas like Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar, and Ashok Rajpath are prone to flooding.
Authorities are working to ensure that essential services remain uninterrupted during the rains.

Rural and Urban Contrast in Weather Impact

The impact of heavy rainfall in Bihar differs between rural and urban regions.
In rural areas, the rain provides essential irrigation support for farming activities.
Villagers often welcome the showers as they help sustain agricultural livelihoods.

In urban towns and cities, heavy rain leads to waterlogging and traffic chaos.
Drainage infrastructure in many towns is inadequate to handle continuous rainfall.
As a result, people face difficulties in transportation, health, and daily needs.

People Advised to Remain Cautious

Authorities have advised people to take safety measures during thunderstorms and strong winds.
Residents should avoid going near trees, electric poles, and under-construction structures.
Motorists have been asked to drive carefully on slippery and waterlogged roads.

In case of emergencies, disaster helplines are available in each district for assistance.
People living near rivers have been urged to stay alert to any rise in water levels.
The administration continues to monitor the situation closely to prevent major disruptions.

Bihar is once again bracing for a fresh spell of heavy rain across its districts.
With the monsoon set to revive from 11 September, rainfall activity will increase.
Farmers hope the showers will benefit crops, while residents fear flooding and waterlogging.

Authorities have assured that all precautions are being taken to ensure safety.
However, people are advised to remain careful and avoid unnecessary exposure to bad weather.
The next two weeks are crucial as the state experiences the impact of an active monsoon.
