Bihar Weather Update : February Brings Confusing Mix of Heat and Cold

Published on

The weather in Bihar during February is creating confusion among residents across the state. Bright sunshine and rising temperatures during the day are giving a summer-like feel. In contrast, nighttime temperatures are falling sharply, bringing back cold conditions. This sudden shift between day and night weather is being felt in both urban and rural areas.

Many districts are witnessing this unusual pattern. People are experiencing warmth during afternoon hours. However, as soon as evening arrives, the cold intensifies. This changing weather has affected daily routines and lifestyle choices.

Southern Districts Feel Stronger Daytime Warmth

Districts such as Kaimur, Rohtas, Bhojpur, and Aurangabad are experiencing noticeable daytime heat. The sun remains strong during the afternoon. In several areas, people have started using fans again. This is uncommon for February in Bihar.

Despite warm afternoons, the nights remain cold. The minimum temperature drops significantly after sunset. Residents are forced to switch back to warm clothing during night hours. This sharp contrast is making it difficult to adapt to the weather.

IMD Predicts Further Drop in Minimum Temperature

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Bihar may see further changes in the coming days. The department has forecast a drop of nearly three degrees Celsius in minimum temperature over the next two days. This means nights could become colder before conditions stabilize.

Weather officials say the effect of a western disturbance is responsible. This system is causing a fall in night temperatures. At the same time, clear skies during the day allow strong sunlight. This combination is leading to warm days and cold nights across the state.

Morning Chill and Fog in Several Areas

In many parts of Bihar, mornings are still cold. Light chill is common during early hours. Some areas are also witnessing fog, especially in rural regions and near open fields. Visibility improves as the day progresses.

Once the sun rises fully, the fog clears quickly. The sky becomes clear, and temperatures rise rapidly. By noon, the warmth is strong enough to feel uncomfortable for some people.

Clothing Choices Become a Daily Challenge

The fluctuating weather has made clothing selection difficult for residents. People wear warm clothes in the morning and evening. During afternoon hours, lighter clothing feels more comfortable. Many carry extra layers while stepping out.

This daily adjustment has become routine. Parents are especially cautious about children. Elderly people are also finding it difficult to cope with sudden temperature changes.

Farmers Stay Alert Amid Weather Shifts

The changing February weather has also caught the attention of farmers. Cold nights are considered beneficial for crops like wheat, mustard, and pulses. These conditions support healthy crop growth during this stage.

However, rising daytime temperatures are creating concerns. Increased heat can affect soil moisture levels. Farmers are paying closer attention to irrigation schedules. Crop protection has also become a priority.

Agricultural experts believe there is no immediate threat to crops. They say the current conditions are manageable. Still, they advise farmers to remain cautious. Sudden temperature changes can cause stress to crops if they occur rapidly.

Urban Life Reflects Seasonal Confusion

In cities, the impact of the changing weather is clearly visible. During afternoons, people are seen enjoying sunlight in parks and open spaces. The pleasant warmth encourages outdoor activity.

As night falls, the situation changes quickly. Households bring out heaters, quilts, and warm blankets again. Shops selling winter clothing continue to see demand despite daytime heat.

This contrast has made February feel unpredictable. Many residents say it feels like winter and summer are competing with each other.

Health Experts Advise Caution

Doctors and health experts have issued advisories due to the temperature difference. A large gap between day and night temperatures can increase health risks. Common problems include cold, cough, fever, and viral infections.

People with weak immunity need extra care. Health professionals suggest avoiding sudden exposure to cold after warm afternoons. Staying hydrated and wearing layers is also advised.

Parents are asked to protect children from sudden weather changes. Elderly citizens are encouraged to avoid late-night exposure to cold air.

Weather Likely to Stabilize Next Week

The Indian Meteorological Department has provided some relief in its forecast. After the expected temperature drop, weather conditions are likely to stabilize. From next week, the sky is expected to remain clear.

Minimum temperatures may begin to rise gradually. This will reduce the intensity of nighttime cold. The overall weather will become more stable and comfortable.

As temperatures balance out, the effect of winter will slowly fade. People may begin to feel the arrival of the spring season.

Bihar Residents Adjust to Dual Weather Pattern

For now, people in Bihar continue to deal with two different seasons in one day. Warm afternoons and cold nights remain the norm. This dual weather pattern is challenging but manageable.

Residents are hoping for stable conditions soon. The forecast suggests relief is on the way. Until then, flexibility and caution remain necessary.

February in Bihar has become a month of contrasts. While the sunshine brings comfort during the day, the cold nights remind everyone that winter is not over yet.
