Bihar Weather Update : Cold Winds Return, Dense Fog Alert Issued for 25 Districts

Published on

The weather in Bihar has once again taken a cold turn as western winds increased the chill across several districts. After a brief period of relief, winter conditions have strengthened again, bringing back dense fog and cold mornings. Daily life has been affected in many areas due to reduced visibility, especially during early morning and late night hours. Keeping the prevailing conditions in mind, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for 25 districts across the state.

Sunshine During the Day, Weather Changes by Evening

On Tuesday, parts of southwest Bihar witnessed clear and sunny weather during the daytime. Districts such as Arwal, Bhojpur, and Buxar recorded strong sunlight throughout the day, leading to a slight rise in daytime temperatures. The bright sunshine provided temporary relief from the cold and gave the impression of improving weather conditions.

However, the situation changed quickly as evening approached. Cold western winds began blowing across the region, and cloud cover increased in several districts. In some areas, weather conditions appeared similar to light rainfall. The sudden change led to a noticeable drop in temperature, and the cold intensified during the night due to increased wind speed.

Yellow Alert for Dense Fog in 25 Districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in 25 districts, including Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, and Katihar. According to officials, visibility in these districts may fall to around 100 meters during late night and early morning hours. Dense fog, combined with cold winds, is expected to increase discomfort levels and create difficult travel conditions.

In the last 24 hours, dense fog was reported in three districts of the state where visibility remained close to 100 meters. Bhagalpur recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Bihar, with the mercury dropping to eight degrees Celsius. Weather officials warned that such conditions could continue, especially during early morning hours.

Weak Western Disturbance Responsible for Persistent Fog

Meteorologists have explained that the continuous fog is mainly due to a weakening western disturbance over North India. As the system weakens, moisture levels in the lower atmosphere increase. During nighttime, wind speeds drop significantly, allowing moisture to settle near the ground surface.

Since minimum temperatures are not falling sharply, fog conditions are becoming stronger and more persistent. Clear skies and calm weather during the night are further supporting the formation of dense fog. As a result, fog now lingers longer during morning hours and takes more time to clear after sunrise.

No Major Weather Change Expected in the Next 24 Hours

According to the Meteorological Department, there are no indications of any major weather system becoming active in the near future. Due to this, no significant change in weather conditions is expected over the next 24 hours. Morning and evening hours will continue to feel cold, while daytime temperatures may remain near normal levels due to sunshine.

Weather experts stated that fog intensity may reduce slightly if wind speed increases or cloud cover thickens. However, calm conditions could allow dense fog to persist in many districts. People are advised to remain cautious while travelling during early morning and late night hours.

Patna Weather Forecast Remains Stable

In the capital city Patna, light to moderate fog is expected during the early morning hours. Visibility is likely to improve as the day progresses, and the weather is expected to remain mostly clear later in the day. No major changes in minimum or maximum temperatures are anticipated.

Morning and evening hours in Patna will remain slightly cold, while afternoons are expected to be pleasant. The Meteorological Department has not issued any alert for the city. Officials said that weather conditions in areas outside the yellow alert zone are likely to remain normal, although light fog may be seen at some locations.

Fog Continues to Affect Daily Life

Dense fog has once again affected normal life across several districts of Bihar. Morning commuters faced difficulties due to poor visibility on roads, while some train services experienced minor delays. Rural areas reported thicker fog compared to urban locations, making early travel more challenging.

Cold winds added to the discomfort, forcing people to step out fully covered during early hours. Health experts have advised elderly people and children to avoid prolonged exposure to cold conditions during the morning.

Weather Outlook for the Coming Days

Weather experts believe that similar conditions may continue for the next few days. Fog intensity is expected to vary depending on wind movement and moisture levels. Cold mornings are likely to persist across Bihar, while daytime temperatures may remain stable.

Residents are advised to keep track of official weather updates and take necessary precautions while travelling. Winter conditions remain active across the state, and caution is essential during fog-prone hours.
