Patna is expected to experience cloudy weather throughout Tuesday. Light rain is likely in some parts of the city, according to the latest weather forecast. On Monday, intermittent rainfall occurred across different areas of Patna. Despite consistent showers, a minor increase of 0.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in the maximum temperature. However, the minimum temperature dropped by 1.4 degrees Celsius.

The city’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at 28.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum settled at 25 degrees. Meteorological data shows that although the city continues to receive rain, there is still significant variation in temperature due to changing weather patterns.

Monsoon Activity Weakens in Bihar, Slight Rise in Temperature Expected

Rainfall has been consistent across Bihar for the past week. However, weather experts say that there will now be a pause in the rain activity. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the next three days will see a significant decline in rainfall across the state. This break in monsoon is expected to push daytime temperatures up by two to four degrees Celsius.

According to meteorological scientists, rainfall may once again increase from August 8. During the current week, the monsoon is expected to remain weak over most of the central and southern districts. However, northern parts of Bihar could see isolated heavy showers, especially in regions close to the Nepal border.

Yellow Alert for Heavy Rain in Kishanganj, IMD Issues Warning

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Kishanganj district. This alert indicates a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the district. Citizens are advised to stay cautious, especially in flood-prone and low-lying areas.

Despite the consistent rain over the past few days, Bihar is still facing a rainfall deficit. The state’s seasonal rainfall remains 28 percent below normal. This shortfall continues to concern farmers who depend on rain-fed agriculture.

Purnia Records Very Heavy Rain, Other Districts Also Soaked

Over the last 24 hours, Purnia district received extremely heavy rainfall. The total recorded rainfall in Purnia touched 270.6 mm. This level of precipitation is considered very high and may lead to waterlogging in urban and semi-urban areas. Residents have been advised to be cautious, especially during travel and commute.

Apart from Purnia, several other districts witnessed significant rainfall. These include Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Siwan, Patna, Saharsa, and Jamui. Many of these districts received rainfall above the normal daily average, contributing to temporary disruption in road traffic and power supply.

Patna Weather Forecast: Overcast Sky and Light Rain Predicted

The city of Patna will continue to experience cloudy skies on Tuesday. As per the weather forecast, light rain is expected in one or two parts of the city. The intensity of the rain is likely to be lower compared to the previous days. Commuters and residents are still advised to carry umbrellas and raincoats while stepping out.

On Monday, scattered rainfall was seen throughout the day across various neighborhoods of the capital. The changing sky pattern kept the temperatures in check. Daytime remained relatively cool due to the cloud cover and intermittent showers. However, the sudden drop in night temperature could affect people sensitive to weather changes, especially the elderly and children.

IMD Predicts Reduced Rainfall in Bihar for Next Three Days

The India Meteorological Department has forecasted a temporary decline in monsoon activity over Bihar for the next 72 hours. This drop in rainfall is expected to impact both day and night temperatures. With the sun likely to appear more frequently, the temperature may rise by two to four degrees.

According to the IMD, this weather pattern is typical during the mid-monsoon phase. Often, such breaks allow for better drying of soil, which is essential for the next round of agricultural activities. However, farmers who are still awaiting sufficient rainfall for paddy transplantation may face delays in their agricultural plans.

Rain Likely to Return Around August 8, Monsoon May Regain Strength

After the short break in rainfall, the weather department anticipates a fresh surge in monsoon activity from August 8. This could bring back widespread rain across the state, including areas that are currently dry. Farmers, especially in the southern belt, are hoping for improved rainfall during the second week of August to support crop growth.

The forecast of a renewed monsoon system is linked to a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal. If this system strengthens and moves inland, it could trigger a fresh round of rainfall over eastern India, including Bihar.

Rainfall Deficit Remains Despite Showers, Agricultural Impact Worries Farmers

Even though Bihar has seen regular rainfall in the past week, the overall seasonal rainfall is still 28 percent below normal. This shortfall has raised concerns among farmers who rely on the monsoon for kharif crops such as paddy, maize, and pulses.

Districts that are yet to receive normal rainfall are being monitored closely by the agriculture department. If the situation does not improve by mid-August, it could affect sowing patterns and crop yields. In many districts, farmers are using irrigation pumps to maintain soil moisture levels, but this increases the cost of cultivation significantly.

Purnia and Kishanganj Most Affected by Heavy Rains, Flood Risk in Low-Lying Areas

Purnia district, with over 270 mm of rainfall in just 24 hours, has emerged as the most affected area. Such heavy rainfall often leads to temporary flooding, waterlogging, and disruption in daily life. Urban drainage systems come under pressure during such intense spells of rain.

Kishanganj, which is under yellow alert, has already received moderate rainfall. With forecasts indicating possible heavy downpour at isolated spots, the risk of water accumulation and minor floods cannot be ruled out. Residents living in low-lying zones or near rivers are advised to remain alert.

Patna Records Temperature Fluctuations Despite Rain, Cloud Cover Keeps Day Cool

In Patna, Monday’s weather was marked by frequent rainfall and dense cloud cover. Despite rain throughout the day, the maximum temperature rose slightly by 0.2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature recorded a drop of 1.4 degrees. Meteorologists believe that this fluctuation is due to the varying intensity of clouds and rain.

Cloudy conditions typically prevent rapid heating during the day, keeping the temperature lower than usual. However, at night, these same clouds trap heat, often leading to warmer conditions. But in this case, clear patches during the night allowed heat to escape, resulting in a cooler night.

Commuters Face Challenges Due to Rainfall, Traffic and Drainage Issues Reported

The persistent rainfall has caused inconvenience to commuters in Patna and other cities. Roads in many localities were waterlogged by Monday evening. Traffic movement slowed down due to poor visibility and slippery roads. In some areas, clogged drains worsened the water accumulation problem.

The municipal authorities have been working to clear blocked drainage systems. However, repeated spells of rain are making it difficult to maintain normal flow. Citizens have also complained about potholes and damaged roads, which become more hazardous during rain.

The Meteorological Department has advised residents to stay updated with local weather bulletins. With monsoon activity shifting across regions, sudden weather changes are possible. Those planning travel should check forecasts beforehand.

In districts under alert, schools and public institutions may receive advisories for temporary closure or precautionary measures. Emergency services are on standby in flood-prone districts like Purnia and Kishanganj.
