Bihar Weather Update: Scorching Heat to End as Heavy Rain Predicted from Tomorrow

Published by

Bihar continues to battle extreme summer conditions despite the ongoing monsoon season. For the past few days, residents across the state have experienced relentless heat and high humidity. The lack of adequate rainfall has caused significant distress, particularly among farmers. The absence of timely rain has forced them to rely on artificial irrigation, adding to their financial burden.

Monsoon Shortfall Hits Bihar

According to recent data, Bihar is facing a substantial rainfall deficit. The state has recorded 43% less rainfall than usual this season. This shortfall has disrupted normal agricultural activities. On Tuesday, places like Darbhanga received only 15 mm of rain. Other regions such as Gaya, Purnia, and Vaishali recorded less than 5 mm. Several districts have reported no rainfall at all.

Farmers across Bihar are growing increasingly anxious. Crops are at risk due to delayed monsoon showers. Many have already begun using electric pumps and other equipment to water their fields. However, these methods are costly and unsustainable in the long run.

Weather Forecast: Relief on the Horizon

There is some relief expected starting Thursday, July 24. Meteorologists have predicted a shift in weather conditions. From tomorrow, heavy rainfall is likely across most parts of Bihar. The temperature is expected to drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. This change could bring much-needed respite to both residents and farmers.

Today’s Weather Outlook in Bihar

Despite the hopeful forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday will continue to be hot and mostly dry. The weather in Bihar today is expected to remain harsh, with high temperatures and intense sunlight. Skies will stay mostly clear, and humidity will add to the discomfort. Only scattered light showers are expected in some parts of the state.

Maximum temperatures are predicted to hover around 38°C. People across the state are likely to remain drenched in sweat as the sun shines fiercely throughout the day.

Thunderstorms, Rain and Wind Expected from Tomorrow

Beginning Thursday, the weather pattern is expected to shift significantly. Heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and lightning, is likely in several districts. The coming week may witness consistent rainfall, bringing relief from the current heatwave. This sudden change is expected to help balance the existing rainfall deficit to some extent.

A significant drop in maximum temperatures is also predicted. The mercury is expected to fall by 3°C to 5°C over the next 48 hours. This drop will be felt statewide and may continue throughout the week. For many in the farming community, this could be a turning point. The expected rains are likely to play a crucial role in saving the kharif crops.

Weather Conditions in Major Cities of Bihar

Let’s take a look at current weather stats for some key cities in Bihar.

In Patna, the capital city, the maximum temperature is recorded at 35.5°C, while the minimum stands at 29.2°C. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Patna is currently 102, indicating a moderate pollution level.

In Muzaffarpur, the temperature ranges between 28.6°C to 35.2°C. The city has a better air quality level with an AQI of 68.

Gaya is slightly cooler, with the maximum at 34.4°C and the minimum at 28°C. The AQI in Gaya is 92, also in the moderate range.

Purnia is witnessing a high of 34.8°C and a low of 27.4°C. The AQI stands at 73.

Bhagalpur currently has one of the higher temperature readings at 35.7°C, with a minimum of 28.8°C. However, it also has the highest pollution index among these cities, with an AQI of 114.

Farmers Hopeful for Monsoon Revival

With tomorrow’s weather forecast promising widespread showers, optimism is returning among the agricultural community. Many farmers are preparing for the rain, hopeful that it will finally provide the moisture their fields need. The coming days could mark the real onset of monsoon for Bihar.

The importance of timely rain cannot be overstated. From rice to maize and pulses, several kharif crops are waiting for a consistent downpour. An extended dry spell could reduce yields significantly. Hence, this upcoming phase of expected heavy rain is being viewed as a lifeline.

Monsoon to Strengthen Across Bihar

Weather experts believe that this is not just a one-day event. The monsoon system is likely to gain strength and affect all parts of Bihar over the next week. The state government has already alerted local authorities in vulnerable regions. District administrations are preparing for the possibility of waterlogging and flood-like conditions in low-lying areas.

In recent years, Bihar has often faced erratic monsoon patterns. Either excessive rain or prolonged dry spells have become increasingly common. As climate change continues to affect regional weather systems, such fluctuations are expected to persist.

Precautions Advised Ahead of Rain and Thunderstorms

Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious, especially in regions prone to lightning strikes and flash floods. People are advised to avoid venturing out during thunderstorms and to stay away from open fields and water bodies.

Farmers working in remote areas are also being advised to take shelter during bad weather. Lightning strikes have been a recurring hazard during the monsoon season in Bihar, and precautionary measures are crucial to avoid loss of life.

The days of intense heat may soon come to an end. While today will still be uncomfortable, from tomorrow onwards, residents can expect a shift in weather. The arrival of widespread rainfall will not only provide comfort to the public but also revive agricultural activities.

Bihar’s monsoon season is finally expected to kick into full gear. Farmers and residents alike are hoping for steady, well-distributed rainfall to ensure a productive season ahead. The state, which has been reeling under the stress of heat and dryness, now looks forward to cloudy skies, cool winds, and the soothing sound of rain.
