Bihar Legislative Council Session: Opposition Accuses CM Nitish Kumar of National Anthem Disrespect

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | The ongoing budget session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly witnessed a significant uproar in the Bihar Legislative Council, as opposition members accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of disrespecting the national anthem. The protest was intense, leading to the suspension of the session until 2 PM. The opposition, led by former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, demanded an apology from CM Nitish Kumar.

Rabri Devi Leads Protest Against Nitish Kumar’s Alleged Disrespect

Rabri Devi, leading the charge against CM Nitish Kumar, stated that the Chief Minister’s behavior during the national anthem was unacceptable. She accused Nitish Kumar of clapping during the national anthem, which she claimed was a disrespectful act. “The Chief Minister’s mind is not functioning properly,” Rabri Devi stated. She went further to say that if his mind was indeed not functioning, he should step down and hand over the Chief Minister’s position to his son.

Rabri Devi’s statements raised a storm in the Legislative Council, with opposition members protesting vehemently. They gathered outside the Council, demanding an apology from CM Nitish Kumar for his actions. The protest outside the Council was intense, as Rabri Devi continued to criticize Nitish Kumar’s leadership, saying that he had brought shame to Bihar and the nation with his actions.

The Ruckus in the Legislative Assembly

As soon as the Assembly session began, opposition members created chaos by shouting slogans and rushing towards the Well of the House. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly tried to bring the situation under control, urging the members to maintain order. However, the opposition members escalated the situation by attempting to overturn the reporting table.

The atmosphere inside the Legislative Assembly turned chaotic, with members of the opposition continuing their protests. Amid the disruption, the Speaker had no choice but to adjourn the session until 2 PM, just eight minutes after it had started.

Allegations of National Anthem Disrespect

The primary accusation from the opposition was that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had disrespected the national anthem during a recent event. The act of clapping while the anthem was being played was seen as highly inappropriate by the opposition. This accusation fueled the protests, with opposition members demanding accountability from the Chief Minister.

Rabri Devi’s statement that Nitish Kumar’s behavior was a sign of him not being in the right frame of mind added fuel to the fire. She went on to suggest that if the Chief Minister was incapable of leading the state, he should step aside and allow someone else, like his son, to take over.

Opposition’s Stand and the Call for Apology

Rabri Devi and the opposition members stood firm on their demand for an apology from Nitish Kumar. They expressed that such behavior from the Chief Minister was not only disrespectful to the national anthem but also an embarrassment to the people of Bihar and the country as a whole. The protest outside the Legislative Council reflected the intensity of the opposition’s stance on the issue.

The opposition’s criticism of Nitish Kumar’s leadership style and their demand for his apology dominated the session. The atmosphere remained tense as the opposition refused to back down, calling for action and accountability.

Political Implications of the Protest

This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing political rivalry between the ruling party and the opposition in Bihar. The protest, led by Rabri Devi, has deepened the political divide in the state. The opposition’s vocal demand for an apology and their call for Nitish Kumar to step down is a significant move, especially ahead of upcoming elections and political battles.

The incident also highlights the growing discontent within the opposition ranks, with members expressing dissatisfaction over Nitish Kumar’s leadership. The demands for his resignation and the criticism of his behavior have further fueled the political discourse in Bihar, making it clear that tensions between the state’s ruling and opposition parties are intensifying.

Speaker’s Intervention and Suspension of the Session

In an effort to restore order, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly attempted to calm the protesting members. Despite repeated appeals for maintaining order, the opposition’s protests intensified. The disruption led to the suspension of the session, marking a setback in the legislative proceedings.

The suspension of the session until 2 PM reflects the gravity of the situation. With the opposition adamant in their demand for an apology, the Chief Minister’s response to these allegations will be closely watched. How the ruling party addresses the situation in the coming hours will be crucial in determining the political landscape in Bihar.

The protest in Bihar’s Legislative Council over Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s alleged disrespect of the national anthem has stirred a political storm. The opposition, led by Rabri Devi, has raised serious concerns about the Chief Minister’s behavior, demanding an apology and calling for his resignation. The incident has not only ignited a debate over political leadership but has also intensified the ongoing rivalry between the ruling party and the opposition.
