Bihar Election 2025 Phase 2 Voting : Record Turnout Expected as Voting Continues

Published on

The second phase of the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections is currently underway, with voting starting at 7:00 AM today. The first two hours saw a voting turnout of 14.55%, and the election continues with significant enthusiasm across the state. This phase is crucial as it involves 122 constituencies across 20 districts. The phase comes after a historic voter turnout of 65.08% in the first phase, the highest ever recorded in Bihar. Given the excitement seen in the first phase, experts anticipate that the turnout in the second phase may surpass that record.

Voter Enthusiasm Remains High Across Bihar

The enthusiasm among voters in Bihar remains high in the second phase, with long queues at polling stations since early morning. Voters from all age groups, including women, youth, senior citizens, and differently-abled people, are participating in large numbers. Voter turnout figures are expected to be released soon, with officials ensuring smooth and peaceful voting across all polling booths. Security arrangements are stringent to ensure that the election process is carried out without any disruptions.

Violence at Araria Polling Booth

In a disturbing incident, a scuffle broke out between BJP and Congress supporters at the Farbisganj polling booth in the Araria district. The altercation escalated into a violent confrontation, prompting police intervention. Congress supporters accused the BJP candidate of instructing their workers to assault Congress voters. The situation was quickly brought under control by the police, who used minimal force to disperse the crowd. According to officials, the situation is now under control, and there was no report of any major incidents.

Political Leaders React to Voter Turnout

RJD MP Manoj Jha expressed confidence that the second phase of voting would witness a greater wave of change compared to the first phase. He accused central leaders, including the Prime Minister and Home Minister, of diverting attention from crucial issues like unemployment and migration, instead focusing on shifting the narrative. Jha emphasized that the real issues of Bihar would continue to dominate the elections. On the tragic Delhi blast, he called for unity on national security matters and stressed the need for stringent action against the perpetrators.

Record Turnout Expected in Rural and Hilly Areas

There is a strong expectation of higher voter turnout in rural and hilly areas, especially in regions like Seemanchal and the foothills. In 2020, even during the pandemic, these regions recorded high voter participation, with several areas seeing over 60% turnout. This trend is expected to continue and potentially exceed earlier records in this phase.

BJP and NDA Leaders Express Confidence

After casting his vote, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain expressed confidence in the development agenda of the NDA. He claimed that people were voting for development, and he was hopeful that Bihar would reject the notion of “Jungle Raj-2.” Hussain urged all voters to participate in the democratic process. He also commented on the recent Delhi bombing, emphasizing that the government was committed to taking stern action and ensuring the safety of the nation.

Bihar’s Enthusiastic Voters Take to Polling Booths

In many areas, voters waited eagerly in long lines, with a sense of celebration and enthusiasm. Particularly noticeable was the involvement of women and first-time voters. Senior citizens and people with disabilities were provided special facilities at polling stations to ensure their participation. Local leaders and candidates have also been motivating people to vote, calling it their duty and responsibility.

Voter Turnout Across Districts

By 9:00 AM, districts like West Champaran, East Champaran, and Purnia recorded varying but steady turnout rates, with some regions like Kishanganj showing 15.81% participation. Polling stations in rural areas saw an even greater number of voters, with a strong presence of young voters.

Satisfaction with the Election Process

The election officials have been working hard to ensure the smooth conduct of voting, with tight security arrangements in place at sensitive polling booths. Districts like Kaimur and Banka have reported efficient election management, with clear instructions from the Election Commission to maintain peace and order throughout the voting period.

As the second phase of voting continues, the overall atmosphere in Bihar is one of enthusiasm and hope for change. Voter turnout numbers are expected to rise as the day progresses, and political analysts predict that this phase could see a record turnout, surpassing the previous phase. As the elections move forward, all eyes are on the outcome of this crucial phase, with every vote playing a significant role in shaping Bihar’s future.
