Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 : NDA Dominates, JDU Shows Significant Growth in Muzaffarpur

Published on

The results of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections in Muzaffarpur have defied expectations. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) made an impressive showing by securing 10 out of the 11 seats in the district. This victory marked a strong comeback for the NDA, which had previously struggled in some areas. While the alliance triumphed, it did lose one important seat, the Parsu constituency, which was traditionally held by the BJP. This seat was claimed by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Despite the loss of Parsu, the NDA’s overall performance was notable, particularly with the gains made by its coalition members.

JDU’s Strong Performance and Historic Wins

One of the most significant takeaways from the election was the strong performance of the Janata Dal-United (JDU). The party made remarkable strides, winning all four of its contested seats. This was a major improvement from the last election when JDU had only secured one seat. The party’s successful candidates included those who had faced tough competition but managed to retain their seats, particularly key ministers. Kedar Prasad Gupta, the Panchayati Raj Minister and BJP candidate, successfully defended his seat, despite several challenges during the counting process. Similarly, Raj Kumar Singh from BJP also secured his position in Sahebganj, ensuring that both ministers maintained their leadership.

Rama Nishad’s Record-Breaking Victory

Rama Nishad emerged as the standout winner of the election, securing the largest margin of victory in the district. Running from the Arawi constituency, she won by over 57,000 votes, defeating VIP’s Bhogendra Sahani. Rama’s victory was historic as it marked the largest margin in the district, making her one of the most prominent figures in this election. Just days before the election, her husband, Ajay Nishad, transitioned from Congress to BJP, which helped bolster her campaign and contributed to her overwhelming victory.

Muzaffarpur Constituency: BJP’s Strong Comeback

In Muzaffarpur, former BJP district president Ranjan Kumar made a significant comeback. He won the seat, previously lost by BJP in the last election, by defeating Congress candidate Vijayendra Chaudhary by 32,657 votes. This win was a much-needed recovery for the BJP in the region. Ranjan Kumar’s victory was particularly noteworthy because it marked the BJP’s return to a seat it had lost in the previous election, where the defeat was by a narrow margin.

Sakra and JDU’s Expansion

The Sakra seat saw a clear shift in the political landscape. JDU’s Aditya Kumar, who was contesting for the first time, secured a victory by 15,050 votes, defeating his opponent from Congress. This was a significant win as Aditya Kumar had lost the previous election by a narrow margin of 1,300 votes to the same opponent, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary. JDU’s successful candidates were able to expand their base, which had been limited in previous elections.

JDU’s Successful Comeback After Previous Losses

JDU’s performance this year was a huge improvement compared to the last election. The party managed to secure victories in all of its contested seats. In Gaighat, Komal Singh continued the legacy of her mother, Vina Devi, and won against RJD’s Niranjan Rai. The victory was notable as it showcased the rising influence of women in Bihar’s political sphere. Another significant win came in the form of Ajeet Kumar, who defeated RJD’s Rajiv Kumar, also known as Munna Yadav, by a margin of 34,238 votes.

In addition, former minister Ajeet Kumar also secured a victory over RJD’s ex-minister Israyil Mansoori, winning by 25,795 votes. This marked a strong recovery for JDU after its loss in three seats during the last election. The party’s growing strength, particularly in rural constituencies, suggests that it has managed to regain its lost ground.

NDA Strengthens Its Position in the Western Region

In the western region of Muzaffarpur, the NDA continued its dominance. Arun Kumar Singh of NDA won from the Baruraj constituency, securing a victory by a margin of 29,052 votes. This was his second consecutive win in the constituency, further solidifying the NDA’s position in the region.

LJP (R) Marks Its Debut in Bochaha

One of the most remarkable results of the 2025 elections was the victory of LJP (R) in Bochaha. This was the first time the party had contested in the region, and they made a significant impact by winning the seat. Baby Kumari, who had been denied a ticket by the party in 2015, claimed the seat by defeating the RJD’s Amar Paswan with a significant margin of 20,000 votes. This victory marked a new chapter for LJP (R) and indicated the party’s growing influence in Bihar politics.

Increased Expectations for BJP and JDU

The election results in Muzaffarpur have raised expectations for both BJP and JDU. The parties now carry the responsibility of fulfilling the promises made to the people. The significant number of victories has set high expectations for their future governance. The NDA’s success across various constituencies, including the impressive showings by BJP, JDU, and LJP (R), suggests that the alliance will be a dominant force in the coming years.

The 2025 Bihar Assembly election results in Muzaffarpur have reshaped the local political landscape. NDA’s strong performance, combined with JDU’s resurgence, has made a clear statement about the current political climate in the region. While BJP’s victory in key constituencies, including Muzaffarpur, signals a comeback, the rise of LJP (R) and the strengthening of JDU have added new dynamics to Bihar’s political scene.

As the new government takes shape, the expectations from both BJP and JDU are high. With increased competition from regional parties like LJP (R), the coming years will see intense political activity. The next steps for the NDA will involve addressing the issues that matter most to the people of Bihar, including economic growth, employment, and social welfare.
