Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025 : BJP Makes History, Mahagathbandhan Falls Short

Published on

In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP has made history by emerging as the largest party. The results show a significant victory for the BJP, which secured 89 seats. On the other hand, the Mahagathbandhan, led by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, failed to surpass the 50-seat mark. The election saw both landslide victories and nail-biting contests, with some candidates winning by a slim margin.

Narrow Margins that Shaped the Election Outcome

The Bihar Assembly election results highlighted the importance of even the smallest of margins. Some candidates won with record numbers, while others triumphed with the smallest of vote differences, making these elections particularly dramatic.

Among the candidates who won with the smallest margins, one of the closest contests was in the Sadanand constituency, where JDU’s Ramcharan Sah won by a mere 27 votes. Ramcharan secured 80,598 votes, while his opponent, RJD’s Deepu Singh, received 80,571 votes. This election also saw the role of Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party, whose candidate Rajiv Ranjan Raj garnered only 6,040 votes, affecting the outcome of this seat.

Key Victories by Slim Margins

Another closely contested seat was Agiawan, traditionally considered a stronghold of the Left, where BJP candidate Mahesh Paswan won by just 95 votes. Mahesh received 69,412 votes, while CPI (M-L) candidate Shiv Prakash Ranjan trailed closely with 69,317 votes.

In Balrampur, LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Sangeeta Devi won with a margin of 389 votes, defeating AIMIM’s Mohammad Adil Hussain. Sangeeta received 80,459 votes, securing a tight victory. Similarly, in Bakhtiarpur, LJP’s Arun Kumar managed to secure victory by just 981 votes, receiving 88,520 votes compared to RJD’s Anirudh Kumar, who garnered 87,539 votes.

RJD Candidates Win by Narrow Margins

In Bodh Gaya, RJD’s Kumar Sarvjeet won by a narrow margin of 881 votes, securing 100,236 votes. He defeated LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Shyamdev Paswan, who received 99,355 votes. In Chanpatia, Congress candidate Abhishek Ranjan triumphed by 602 votes, receiving 87,538 votes, while BJP’s Umakant Singh secured 86,936 votes.

In Dhaka, RJD candidate Faisal Rahman won by a margin of just 178 votes. Faisal received 112,727 votes, while BJP’s Pawan Kumar Jaiswal received 112,549 votes. Another close race occurred in the Farbisganj seat, where Congress candidate Manoj Vishwas won by 221 votes, defeating BJP’s Vidya Sagar Keshari, who received 119,893 votes.

The results of the Bihar Assembly elections underscore how narrow victories can often change the overall political landscape. The slim margins in various constituencies led to several close races, with some outcomes determined by just a few hundred votes. These results show how crucial every single vote can be in shaping the future of political power.

The election also highlights the rise of new political dynamics and the challenges faced by traditional alliances. Despite a strong performance from the BJP, the Mahagathbandhan failed to live up to expectations. With several constituencies having such narrow margins, it is clear that the power of individual votes has become more important than ever in Bihar’s political landscape.

As the political atmosphere continues to evolve, Bihar’s future will depend on how these narrow victories are leveraged in the coming days. The BJP’s historic win marks a turning point in Bihar politics, but the close results also show that every election can be decided by the smallest of margins.
