AIIMS Patna MD Student Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances in Hostel Room

Published on

In a shocking incident, a postgraduate student at AIIMS Patna was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his hostel room. The deceased has been identified as Yadavendra Sahu, also known as Amrutya Arvind, a first-year MD student from Odisha.

The tragic discovery was made on Saturday inside Room No. 515 of Hostel No. 10 on the AIIMS Patna campus. According to the initial investigation, local police suspect suicide, though the exact cause of death remains unclear.

Student’s Body Found in Hostel, Investigation Underway

The deceased, Yadavendra, was pursuing his first year of MD studies at AIIMS Patna. He was reportedly last seen by his hostel mates a day before his body was found.

Following the incident, a team from Phulwari Sharif Police Station, led by DSP Sushil Kumar, reached the scene. After examining the room, the body was sent for postmortem to determine the cause of death.

Speaking to media, DSP Sushil Kumar confirmed,

“At first glance, it appears to be a suicide. We are currently investigating all possible angles.”

AIIMS Patna Administration Maintains Silence

After the incident, a somber atmosphere engulfed the entire AIIMS Patna campus. Fellow students and staff were left shocked by the sudden demise of the young doctor.

However, the AIIMS administration has not released an official statement. When approached for a comment, officials declined to speak on the record, stating that an internal review is also underway.

Family Members Informed, Cause of Death Unclear

The police have informed the student’s family in Odisha. The body will be handed over to them after the completion of all legal and medical formalities.

So far, no suicide note has been recovered from the room. The motive behind the suspected suicide is still under investigation.

Police officials stated that electronic devices, including the student’s mobile phone and laptop, have been taken for forensic analysis.

Suicide or Foul Play? Police Keep All Angles Open

Though suicide is suspected, police have not ruled out other possibilities. The investigation is focused on:

  • The student’s mental health history

  • Academic or personal stress

  • Communication records from mobile devices

  • Security footage from hostel premises

Investigators have also questioned a few fellow hostel residents to gather more details about the student’s recent behavior and interactions.

Who Was Yadavendra Sahu?

Yadavendra Sahu, also known as Amrutya Arvind, hailed from Odisha. He was enrolled in the MD (Postgraduate) program at AIIMS Patna and had only recently begun his first year.

Friends described him as a quiet and focused student. He was said to be academically strong and had no known history of mental health issues, though police are still verifying all details.

Reaction on Campus

The death of a young medical student has sparked widespread grief across AIIMS Patna. Peers have demanded transparency and support from the administration regarding mental health challenges faced by students.

Some students have also raised concerns about academic pressure and lack of adequate counseling services on campus.

Several student groups are expected to meet AIIMS officials soon to discuss the need for mental health support mechanisms for medical students.
