The study suggests that lycopene improves brain cell communication, helping to alleviate depressive symptoms by restoring neuronal connectivity. To test the antidepressant properties of lycopene, researchers conducted an experiment on male mice that exhibited acute social stress and depressive symptoms. The mice were divided into two groups:
